White screen with DVD Playback

Today was the first time I ever tried to play a DVD within CF. I can heard audio, but the screen is just white with no picture. It shows up fine in WMP. Using 1.47, Windows XP.

Any ideas?

I got the same thing. I'm using PowerDVD 5, it works fine in Windows, but in CF I just get a white screen. Any updates on what could be wrong?

No idea. In the Flux forum, David suggested that PowerDVD and WinDVD work well in XP. So I purchased a copy of WinDVD and still no luck. So now I'm out 35 bucks and still can't play DVD's in CF.

I'll give them a call, i can't believe that they haven't responded to this yet.

PowerDVD plays fine in Windows, just not in CF.

What kind of motherboards are being used? Also when you say works in windows, do you mean that it works in Windows Media Player? Check to see if it works in WMP if not...

I called u guys today but no answer. I'm using the Via C7 1.5GHz motherboard.

When I say works in windows means that if I exit CF and put in a DVD, it works fine and plays fine with PowerDVD. I have not tried it with Windows media player, why would that make a difference?

CF uses the same object and methods that Windows Media Player uses for DVD playback. This is the only true test, see what those results are. I too have been through quite a few motherboards that would work within PowerDVD/WinDVD, but would not work with WMP. There's some playing around with things that goes into it sometimes to get everything working.

Scott, DVD's play fine in Windows Media Player. There is no video in CF. Only audio. I have WinDVD on my system, and further, DVD's play fine in Streetdeck too.

I have a brand new ASUS mobo... doubt it's the the issue.

make sure you have WMP10+ installed, it copies some files that are needed...

Also there is a utility I will try to search for, but it loads and lets you see which codec is set as the windows default... lots of MCE users run this utility, it allows you to change and see all the mpeg2 codecs on the system...

running this tool will let us verify which codec Centrafuse is trying to use...

ok, I found it...

first install WMP10+, then run the MS codec utility and make sure the codec you want to use is set as the system default...

maybe the better way is, not to use wmp10, let the windows xp sp2 like it is after installation and use a free (and much smaller) 3rd software like the vlc player with integrated DVD codecs.

maybe it works - i have not test to modify the *.ax Files shares from VLC to default use..

(uhhh sorry for my bad english)

No, but I have also not had a chance to run the Windows Decoder checkup utility that David linked to either. I'm waiting for my new PSU to arrive since the last one caught fire on me.
