WiFi Or Palm Centro Internet?

I've got a dilema... I can either buy some software for my Palm Centro for $25 and use my phone as a modem in Centrafuse or spend $60ish for a WiFi antenna for internet. I'm leaning towards the WiFi because I'll always have internet on hand (assuming I'm in a WiFi area) versus plugging my sync cable to my phone and using it.

Any opinions on which to go with? Recommendations on WiFi antenna (haven't searched, just debating which I'm giong to do)....

How often will you be using the internet and how prevalent is WiFi in your area?

Don't know if it's an option for you but, I bought an el-cheapo Bluetooth adapter and, using that, wirelessly connect to my Palm (it's a 700p but the concept is the same). The Palm acts as wireless modem to Verizon. It's quite a zippy connection, there are a lot more places where I have wireless coverage versus having 802.11 access, and, with the BT, I don't have to deal with the sync cable. I just setup a DUN shortcut button in Cetrafuse and hit that whenever I want to go on-line. Phone stays on my belt.

I won't be using the net frequently, more just a "cool" factor but stil nice for weather updates and what not. Still not sure how good of WiFi we have around here, so that could be an issue.

I've connected to the net on my home computer through the centro and works good. Not as fast as cable but it's pretty cool I can do that. Do you use USBModem or PDANet to get online through the BT or is there a free way?

I tried both of those when I was setting this up; couldn't get either to work at all. I ended up calling Verizon and adding DUN service to my plan ($10/month for unlimited DUN). With that method, there's no additional software needed and configuration on any machine is a snap.

May not be the cheapest route but, it sure is the simplest and cleanest.

when in a wireless area and u get a net connection , will automatically update ur weather and that for u

and one more opinion...

I use a Centro and a Kensington Bluetooth adapter with the Microsoft BT stack. I'm getting 524k down and 124k up. I'm pretty happy.

I'm using USBModem, I couldn't find a freebie. WELL worth the $20! Nice app.
