USB Not reconised after hibernation (works in windows)

When cf is not running and i hibernate, everything works fine. The external hard drive is detected in around 5 seconds.

However, if i hibernate when cf is running, when it resumes, i hear the USB disconnect sound and the usb devices dont work (mainly touchscreen fails)

It may have something to do with cf trying to play from the external hard drive when it is not yet initialised.

I have already tried devcon with no luck.

Any ideas?

I have seen posts usb + hibernate problems, but none caused by CF

hmm, tricky, the most usb problems are problems with USB recognation after resume. (hibernating) Sometimes you can resolve that, that you disable the function ACPI in your BIOS Settings of your Mainboard. (sometimes you must reinstall your Windows, if you install XP with enabled ACPI settings in BIOS, and disable later ACPI, your system reboots between the driver loading of Windows) But this is different, other mainboards (i have a jetway j2xxx) have more options for Plug & play functionality, like "OS supports Plug & Play", or "BIOS/ACPI controlled IRQ Ressources" and something other. the best way i hink is - to let the bios cofigure the IRQ and connected devices and not ACPI. (Windows). So when you come back from hibernate with a non-acpi Windows XP installation the BIOS have set the parameters for the USB connected devices well - acpi set the parameters much time later - and this sometimes to late, for recognation - the application (CF) is reloaded, and 2 seconds later acpi sets (reload) the devicelist again.
then you have problems like: not working Touchscreen, not working GPS receiver and and and..

but this is only maybe - sometimes you have driver problems, or other crazy thinks..

Thanks for the reply.

I have narrowed down the problem with the gps. When i set GPS to NONE, everything works fine everytime. My friend has the exact same problem. Any ideas? maybe something conflicting?

If you have Navigation turned on (i.e. "not" set to NONE), and the serial port is not set, it will open COM1. I have seen cases where things work when CF is loaded, but when returning from hibermation, the order of ops are different and the com port gets opened sooner. Might any other device be using COM1 on your system?

the best way is, to set the mouse to physical serial com port. then it works always. but find a gps mouse with serial connector and with external gps antenna jack.. ;-)
