looking for a change!!!!
Hey all,
I currently own SD and looking to switch to a frontend that will support and assist with any issues or problems. can I get some input on wich front end to switch to? I'm digging Centrafuse look.
Here's what I got and want to control, My Airride, XM radio, Cathodes(lights) Nav, OBDII, Video, audio, bluetooth, phone, dual video output....to say the least!!!
Also what can I do with my current version of SD I can sell my copy and HDD so you wouldn't loose the license for it!!
Thanks
Steve

I left SD for CF and it's an awesome program. I got tired of the lack of care and support from the SD folks. CF is great, and I think anyone coming from SD will love it.
I can't speak to selling your SD license, however I'm guessing they don't allow transfers. I could be wrong, but now that they are losing customers daily, I don't think they're going to give up any revenue.

I started with Centrafuse XLE, then I tried RR but now I use FreeICE. I never tried SD beyond the trial period.

I think you will be very happy with Centrafuse. I left SD as well because they completely gave up on their product (shady). I'm really glad I didn't pre-order their BT dongle which has been on pre-order for well over a year.
But I went back to Centrafuse after not really paying attention and there is a HUGE improvement from when I was using version 1.1. I'm really excited and anxious about the upcoming release of version 1.5 with the BT integration (I can finally use my phone!). There are some bugs here and their but the Centrafuse team definately are on top of them and fully back their product... which I love.

Why is it that people dont consider RoadRunner?
It can be skinned to look just like centrafuse or streetdeck, and it is FREE!

Not hard. You can do it by hand, you can do it with the skin designer, or just download one that others have done.
It obviously gets harder the more complex it gets as always. If you want the CF look, then look at cdr's skin. For SD I am not sure, but that seems relatively easy. There are some very talented people on here that have made skins that are skinnable themselves! That is the power of RoadRunner. For instance without opening up a file and editing it, you can change a background or skin colour, or simplethings like that from within some of these more complex skins.

Probably because people don't want to take the time to have to configure EVERYTHING, they want it to work right out of the box.

Things have changed radically since middle of last year. There is an installer now, and a config from Blue.
Seriously all you do is download the installer, click the next buttons it installs it, you open it, and it works. That is it. There is no more manual configuration needed. You can do it by hand if you want to but for setting it up there isnt anything easier. I even use the installer now since it is so easy.

I used RR for a couple of weeks and didn't really like the way it navigated music. Also I wasn't really fond of any of the skins except for Freedom Ultimate which was stopped because FreeICE was started. There are a couple of really nice skins that have popped up recently though.
But I'm pretty much hooked on FreeIce right now and unless development totally stops on it I'll stick with it. It's super fast and sleek and I can embed anything I want into it.
Maybe I'll give RR a try again just for fun. It seems a lot of the cool RR functionality comes when you have an internet connection live in the car which I don't yet.

i used to use road runner and though RR can be made to look the same, its no where near as good as CF.
i went from frodoplayer to RR to CF,
FP was very good at the time, it was fast and very reliable for what i wanted it to do, but i think its development has stopped? so it was hard to continue to use it when other front ends started to overtake it.
i moved into RR when i upgraded my car pc to a core duo, it was aesthetically very nice (was using the Freedom Skin) but i found it was flawed in many areas and took way too much work to configure and fiddling around is always annoying when your in the middle of driving. configuration menu could do with alot of a work in relation to simplying user interface.
CF is worth the money i paid, its not a matter of it looking better (tho it does and yes you can skin RR) it loads up very fast, don't have issues with resuming from hibernation using this program. setup menu is very simple and easy to follow (you don't have to sit there for a few hours trying to figure everything out)
basically i find, at this very moment, CF to fufill all my needs for my CarPC it works (nearly) flawlessly, there a few bugs but i know they are being looking into so i'm not stressing too much about them.

I am also a former SD user that switchced to CF and I am very happy with CF!
SD support is terrible, updates are far and few between and they make thier own new features instead of making features that are actually usable. Most of thier digital mods are internet based and im not paying for internet in my work truck/DD.
Anyway CF is a great program and I highly reccomend it.
I went from RR->SD->CF
The reason I went to SD originally is I was tired of the tweaking that RR requires. It never ran perfectly. And you have to go and still buy all the programs like your nav, phone control, and other liitle band aid programs.
Anyway, thats just my experiance, if things have changed then good! CF is for me!
