Does anyone know if CF can be configured to use truck version maps for heavy duty class 8 trucks?

Also, are there any truckers out there using CF?

What would be the difference between consumer-level maps and maps for truckers?
Would truckers' map data include weigh stations, truck stops with scales, check points and the like? or is there some other difference that I, as a non-trucker wouldn't be aware of?

Correct, it contains routing logic that knows about bridges, tunnels, and streets where the truck is not allowed or streets with a dead-end where the truck cannot turn around. The POI's also can contain things like truck stops, weigh stations, and rest stops.

I would absolutely freaking LOVE to find a piece of software like Centrafuse that had the option for specifying a class-8 truck. Right now, we have a choice of CoPilot Truck (which is, well, not the best) and nothing else.

Even if we had to pay an additional fee for a Trucker version, I know that I would purchase it in a second.

With big trucks, the routing has to take into consideration the size of the vehicle (height, width, length and weight), the type of cargo (hazardous or not), etc. There's nothing like having a GPS program send me down a narrow road with a weight limit of 10tons when I'm running at 40tons.

Keep this in mind - as a trucker, we know that no program can be absolutely perfect. However, if it does 90-95% of the routing correctly for a truck, we'd be happy.

Just as an idea about CoPilot Truck: I recently upgraded mine from version 9 to version 11. In the new version, you can easily see what roads are truck usable and which aren't by the color. The first time I ran it, I saw a HUGE problem with their data. In the state of West Virginia, where I live, the only roads that CoPilot thinks a truck can use are 4-lane highways. When I called them, they told me that all roads in WV have a weight limit of 32tons - which is utter BS.

The way I see it is that you guys (truckers) need map/navigation data with specific information.
Considering that all the front-ends are all using off-the-shelf consumer-oriented map data, it really can't be modified much.
Sure you can add POIs for scales, rest areas, favorite truck stops and the like. But the weight limits, road widths and low bridges that you need to know about in order to drive your truck safely... Those are difficult to add into the map data, if not impossible.

That ProNav system looks VERY nice. Can't wait to see a system using the NavTeq Transport data for the US.
