No music and the skipping upon resume from hibernate
This most likely isn't a Centrafuse problem but hopefully someone here can help me track down what is going.
Recently did a new installation using a Mac mini that boots to Windows. I have CF set to automatically play upon resume, but when I come back from hibernation music isn't playing.
The play/pause button has the play icon on it so CF thinks it is paused I guess. The weird thing is that as soon as I touch anywhere on the screen (doesn't have to be a button) it un-pauses and starts playing. Then about 3 seconds later the music skips 6 or 7 times, after that everything is normal. It is slightly different for video. Video is playing automatically after the resume but I still get the skipping after a few seconds.
I thought the skipping might be something hardware related upon resuming from hibernate, such as the computer searching for wireless networks or bluetooth devices connecting. But the thing is if I resume from hibernate I can leave it in the "paused" state for a few minutes, then as soon as I click the middle of the screen music kicks in followed by the skipping. So I know think it is CF doing something, not the hardware.

Possibly the same as this bug:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/cf-b...f-restart.html
...where CF 2.0 RC4 is in a bad state after resuming the PC. Maybe on a faster PC only your symptoms are noticeable, whereas for mine I have to restart CF for it to be usable at all.

The "touch the screen issue" has been floating around for users in the past, something we have never been able to reproduce. Please reproduce, then create and post system log...
Re-opened in bug database, BUG-000301
to eliminate the possibility of bluetooth causing the skipping when initting, disable phone in settings, and see if the issue goes away (bluetooth does hog the cpu for a few secs when it inits, and if cf code is stuck, or doesnt receive the resume event from windows until you touch the screen, bt still would init a few seconds after music starts). If it still persists then it is the buffer correction, which on some systems you can hear the skipping / ticks in the playback. In the next update you will be able to disable buffer correction...
Anyway, post that report and we can have a look...

Any update on this one? Seeing that this is the only report of this right now, and this thread has no reponse from you in 10+ days, we're going to close the bug report if there is still no response in the next 24 hours...

Sorry for the delay, was going to update today...honestly. I installed RC5 last night and the problem still persists.
What do you need from me in the way of a system report? I think I remember seeing something along the lines of "create system report" in the tools menu so I'll do that. I think I also seem to remember seeing a button for "log events" or something like that. Should I do something with that as well?

BGH, do you have the problem even when you choose Disabled for Phone Settings? When I have Phone Enabled, CF is almost (and sometimes completely) unusable after resuming from standby/hibernate.

Yep I have phone disabled. I have pretty much everything disabled trying to nut out what is causing this. The only things I have operating on my carputer are music/movies and nav.
Just noticed another piece in the puzzle this morning. When mine comes back from hibernate the clock still says the time from when it went into hibernation. Clicking anywhere on the screen causes everything to refresh, the clock goes to the correct time and the music starts playing.

if thats the case then something is throwing an exception in your resume from hibernation (machine specific because this is the only report of this).
Please post a system report, it is in settings as you mentioned. All "Log Events" are ON all the time in the RC's (despite what is set in settings)...

Here is the system report
http://bgh.net.au/Files/CFSystemRepo...-2.0.626.1.zip
Here is a vid of the problem occuring. Sorry I was a bit slow starting the recording, it starts just as it is coming out of hibernate. Note how it says it's paused when it comes back (I didn't pause it when shutting down) and how the time only gets updated once I touch the screen.

yeah, CF is not receiving the resume event from windows until you touch your screen.
we actually had another active user having this exact problem run some tests and he wrote a simple application that listened on the same resume event as Centrafuse does, and it displayed the same behaviour. My guess is that the touchscreen driver is locking the windows event reporting thread on resume (in its own re-initialization), and releases as soon as its touched. Then cf gets it... There's not much we at Flux can do about this one, but we will continue to look into it and take input from everyone to try and figure it out...

Damn that bites. It's not as though it should be some obscure touchscreen driver that I am using, it's just the one that came with my Lili 629-GL. Can anyone recommend a different one to use? I might try uninstalling the touchscreen drivers completely and see if the problem persists.

I uninstalled the touchscreen driver completely so that CF only operates via a mouse and it still exhibits the same problem. Audio only starts once the mouse is moved.

well, that was just my guess, thank you for doing the testing (much appreciated), we know now that that isn't it... i will update you if this other user comes across anything, i think he's actively checking it out... all we know now is thats it happens on only a few systems we know of out of hundereds and hundereds... what kind of mobo, os, do you use?

It's on an Intel Core solo Mac Mini. Surely there are other CF users out there using Mac Minis. Can you confirm this? Hopefully I will get time to do a complete re-install some time this week.

Haven't had time to get round to reinstalling unfortunately. I have reinstalled my touch drivers though and the music no longer skips when resuming, but it does still require me to touch the screen before it starts.
What is curious is that movies start automatically but music doesn't. Are they handled differently somehow?
