Yes, mine does that. Between 5 to 10 seconds. I too am runing an nlited XP (Pro).
It's not an issue for me as I use hibernate, so it only takes me 15 seconds or so to start music from when I turn the key.

Yeup... And it got longer with 2.x. These days, I don't even get the "loading" mouse cursor telling me that something's happening. It's there initially, then CF is clearing it before it puts up the first banner.
I've tried to double-load it a number of times thinking that nothing was going on.

I'm on XP (using an Infill G4) and it probably takes about a minute for CF to load.
I would use Standby, but since RC4, CF is broken when resuming from Standby or Hibernate.

If you remove any plugins that you don't use from the plugin folder in the CF directory, your opening time will decrease. Email was the biggest time saver for me...

Centrafuse loads up a lot of memory intensive functionality, so it can take a bit naturally, especially from a boot. Consecutive runs of CF after the first should load much faster... I will look to see if theres something that can be done to make the splash screen come up quicker...

Have you tried loading it on a normal version of xp? Any difference?

Will try to see if we can bring up the splash screen right away

Is it taking a full minute? I had some of your logs from before and they were all around 25-30 seconds, which is almost normal on a first run after boot on a g4. if its takin' a full minute, post me up a log so we can see where the delay is...

Umm... what? Are you saying you're banking on Windows caching to reduce the subsequent load times of CF? In the real world Scott, there's a shutdown after exit... Any cache is gone.
The only time I'd be exiting CF and then reloading without a reboot in-between is trying to get other stuff installed around CF. Once the system is running, then I'm either hibernating or shutting down.

At least stop resetting the mouse cursor... And maybe an animated load indicator to entertain us.

I think he's talking about prefetch...

Are you thinking about the Windows pre-fetch queue? The DLL cache? I'm pretty sure that flushes on a reboot. The cache helps in situations where you load an app, use it, close it, and then re-load it. Think down the lines of a word processor or a graphics app.
If the DLL cache helped between reboots, Windows itself wouldn't take so long to load in the first place.

It takes 45 seconds after Windows restart, and 20 seconds when relaunched subsequent times after restarting Windows.
It does not matter if it Phone is enabled.
A log is attached from a launch right after Windows reboot.

Didn't mean any of that by it. I just simply answered the question in post #1, and made a comparison to loading cf a successive time.

wow, everything, it is, it's just plain slow. plugins are taking 16 seconds to load, i think you need a fresh install of xp... how much playin' have you done on this g4 since the last time you reinstalled xp?
