Centrafuse + hibernation no audio on resume
I've recently decided to give Centrafuse a try after ordering my Sirius receiver and cable from MJS. I needed a front end that could do audio, video, Garmin nav, web, and now Sirius radio. After a little tweaking I realized that Centrafuse fits the bill and I rather like the interface. However, I'm having a strange problem. It seems to be fixed in the newest version (1215 I believe it is). However, I thought I'd post it regardless to see if any one has any ideas or possibly to help out users who are using an older version of CF 2.
When using CF 2.0.8061 trial version (the newest I had):
When resuming from hibernate, the program would resume normally but wouldn't "update" until I moved the mouse or touched the screen. This is a known issue with some PC's and hibernate so I wasn't too concerned. What was strange, was that even after I moved the mouse or touched the screen, Centrafuse would resume playing where the song left off, but no audio was heard. The only way to get audio back was to either restart the song, or starting another song. I tried pausing, then playing again... nothing. I tried turning the volume all the way, then back up and again nothing. I even tried turning off buffer correction and the result was still the same. Centrafuse resumes fine, but there is no audio.
After this I decided to download the newest trial version of CF to see if I had any new bug fixes for this issue. Sure enough, I found what I needed. In version 2.1.1215 there is an option when advanced setup is turned on that remedies the hibernation issue. If you go into the audio/video advanced menu, there is a ON/OFF setting for an option called "Restart on Resume". Once this is turned on, the PC resumes from hibernate without having to move the mouse, touch the screen or anything. It also resumes playing audio just as it should.
In order to test what was causing the issue I decided to try hibernating with WMP playing a song. When I did this, I noticed that instead of resuming the song when coming out of hibernation, WMP actually stops playback and you have to start the song over. This leads me to believe that when using 2.0.8061 that CF is resuming properly, but WMP is not, causing CF to count off the minutes/seconds like the track is playing, when in fact it's not.
What I don't understand is why that option "Restart on Resume" allows version 2.1.1215 to work correctly. It's not really a big deal for me as I've not purchased CF yet and am just using the trial. However, if there is a solution to this problem it could help out other people who might be using an older version of CF and don't want to upgrade.
