haha, sorry, i was at work when i posted so I couldn't really say what i meant.

The point that I was trying to get across was that you can build that serial device yourself as well. All you need for the whole project to work would be any mechanical type switch you decide to build.

From there, the switches control the serial device, which goes to girder (via the girder serial plugin), which then goes on the control centrafuse hotkeys. Visually, the process looks like this:

mechanical switches -> serial input device -> girder -> centrafuse.

Sounds complicated, but its actually not that bad

If you have any questions, i'd be glad to help out. I think this might be a good route to take if you wanna build custom buttons to interface w/ centrafuse. AFAIK, you only need something that can emulate keystrokes.

You could use that controller with the software they provide to program it, so that each input represents a button, and you could use any front-end with it... so it might be a good idea to document everything and probably try to get it stickied in the Hardware or Fabrication forums or something, for the next time somebody thinks about doing it but using Frodo or some other front-end.

Incidentally, I see they also have a USB version, which might be better if you don't wanna lose your keyboard -- or if you're not happy with the OSK that the frontend has. It's cool that they also have a Linux/Mac version of the programming utility as well.

Have fun.

I ended up purchasing that pac2 board and i talking to one of my roommates later and he told me he do that vb key mapping in like 2 minutes... i forgot that i live with two people that script for a living

so the board came in and it's really well made. i'm waiting for my qt110 switches to come in before i hook it up. After seeing all the inputs that this is going to have i think i'm gonna set up some more automatic features. like auto dim (there is nighttime mode in centrafuse right?) by setting up a relay that is activated by turning my lights on.
