Generating MP3 index not with CF
Little but important question...
My MP3 archive is about 30GB I sync the archive between CarPC and my local server. Now as you probably know generating the MP3 index takes a long time.
Now my idea is to generate the MP3 list on my server and sync it to my carpc.
I found that the current.mpl file contains the current playlist mp3 files (plain text) but I can not find the full mp3 index file! Did you put it into a sort of Database file (binary, genrelist.day maybe)?
Could you share us your way of doing it David? It would save a lot of time if I can generate the MP3 index every night on my server instead of on my CarPC.
Thanks...

main.dat is where the full mp3 index is kept... This is also the location of the local freedb storage... It is a MS Access file...

You could make a csv on the server and then have a little program on the carpc convert / import that into the access-db... should be quick as there's nearly no io involved, and that's what takes so much time.
Just an idea ;-)

If the directory structure was identical on the CarPC and Home PC would it be possible to create some sort of playlist in Winamp or other app and transfer the playlist to CF in the car ???
Just like many here and the original poster, I have many many MP3s and I am dredding making playlists within CF ...
Not any negative on the application, but TS friendly app is harder to do these things than within something else..

Don 944 LA: Just create a playlist in CENTRAFUSE and then open it with a text editor... I store them in the playlists sub folder... It is a very easy structure to follow, you could easily make them on your PC and then just copy them into your CENTRAFUSE playlists folder...
