I am just working on this next release... Things will move much faster once I get this next one out. I am still working on the new skin and the way I do all my graphics drawing... I got pretty much all the kinks worked out this weekend so now I just have to implement it everywhere... I then plan on redoing the PhoCo integration and the external apps support... After 1.3 things will get back to normal pace....

I will post some screenshots of the new skin as soon as I get it up and running....

david I'm spending a lot of hours in my car (work sucks), using CF
man, I really love this software
I notice some small thinsg, such as

1) on "fast forward" you should decrease the volume and make it slightly faster on skipping forward-backward
2) a fade in-out when pause is really needed
3) my gps software uses 2 differents processes, one for the charting and one for the navigating interface. these 2 tasks have the same name (mapsonic.exe) but when I close CF it only kills one of these tasks and I have to kill the other manually before reopening the software, can you do something for this?
4) this is a strange request but I have to switch off my amplifier BEFORE the carpc, otherwise I get a tremendous BOOMP coming out from my subwoofer and I don't really like it. I was thinking I could hook a relay to a specified signal coming from the parallel port, which you already use for external LCD. Can you program CF to output a standard TTL 5v from a LPT pin? Of course CF has to switch off this signal when I hibernate my carpc. It this too much of a request? don't know if it can be useful for others, but in my case would really save my speakers

by the way I really REALLY love this piece of software

Frankino: I have my setup wired so that when I turn off ACC, the radio and amps turn off, and the pc begins shutdown 7 seconds later. Will that not work for you? You should be able to link the computer begining shutdown and the amps remote line going low without the need for software and a TTL out of your PC.

Now on to my questions about 1.3

Will we be able to embed a second non-GPS application instead of "Radio" for example?

Also, music and music videos should be the same... you should be able to listen to just the sound with both, use the normal playlist and next track controls, and even mix videos and music in a playlist. The only differance is that one has visulizations and the other has video. When browsing music, you should be able to "show music videos only", but when browsing music just for the audio, you should still see both music and music videos.

I use "Videos" for Movies right now, and I don't have a DVD player so that button is useless in adition to "Radio".

My optimum 5 item guide whould be:
Music / Music Videos (with a much improved browser)
Movies (with a browse by cover art [.jpg in same folder])
DataLogger (embedded app: TMO 3000GT/Stealth [ODB-1])
GPS (embedded app: DeLorme 2005)
Traffic (that auto scrolls down and right on load so I can see the map)

I also really disslike the Video's interface. Everything should be with in the main interface just like Music and my embedded GPS program. The <eye> icon should just switch between listing movies/videos (while playing their audio) and fullscreen video to go with the audio (just like it does now for music and full screen vis. I guess there should be an auto-hiding progress bar and next/prev track when in fullscreen (both for movies/videos and for music... that way you could FF/REW al la dragging a bar plus next/prev track without having to exit your visualization.

Also, at the moment my touchscreen is broken... it would be nice if I could use centrafuse with my IR Man, but the hot keys just don't cut it for anything other than next-track. You really need to be able to use the arrow keys, enter, esc, and maybe tab to move a highlight bar around menu items (just like you can on a web page).

Anyway, I do love the program... keep up the good work and get us 1.3 beta ASAP!

I agree, I used a remote (using 5" psone screen, and I dont think it would be remote friendly by the looks of it.

I still cant use it because there is no 640x480 skin or support!

he probably has the opus power supply that has an integrated power down controller (or a stand alone power down controller)... i see you use an inverter, i guess you can probably add a power down controller (check products in mp3car website) or make your own. there are a few threads in this forum that talk a lot about that.

There are two options:

1) Simulate pressing the power button (you can do it mechanical or electrical... If you don't have a startup/shutdown, you can do it with a relay or two).

2) Simulate a UPS power-loss state using pin 8 of a serial port (use search to dig up pleanty of info on this one)
