Embedding problems (not just GPS this time)...

Using the most current release from fluxmedia.net, running on Win2K with all recommended extensions downloaded from the downloads page on fluxmedia.net, in case that matters.

I've been trying to get MS S&T '05 embedded for the past 2 days, to no avail. Yes, I've tried changing the window titles, and have even tried using the &codes for the rest of the elements in the name (&nbsp, &emdash, etc) as well as the ampersand. MS S&T opens, but is not visible.

Just for craps and giggles today, I tried setting the GPS path and window name to work with Paint (mspaint.exe, Paint, respectively). It seemed to embed, even going so far as to embed a black block equal to the canvas dimensions, and change the mouse cursor (still turned on) to the Pencil tool.

However, it would not show anything but this black box, no matter what.

I'm not sure if I missed something, but I figured that in any case, the fact that Paint doesn't embed properly would indicate that something's up, and hopefully that'll help the debugging process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have Always OnTop enabled in setup? If so try it with that disabled.

Always OnTop is Disabled.

S&T 2005 opens as an external application over top of CF.
Paint exhibits the same symptoms as before.

I'm getting the same problem. On my laptop running WinXP Topo 5 (based off of Street Atlast) emmbedded fine once I got the right window name. When I went to install CF on my carpc running win2k and embed Topo in CF I get a black screen. The map is there because clicking on the black screen will bring up menus from Topo. Then, when I go to close CF, the Topo screen is visable until the screen is redrawn.

I have also disabled the always on top button but to no effect. I tried playing around with the Epia M9000 graphics driver options and still nothing. I reinstalled the latest version of directX and nothing still.

Any help on this would be great, oh one last thing, would using TV out make any difference? My LCD is pretty old and only has TV out so that's what I use...

I'm using VGA out, on my Latitude CP (old old old). IANAP, but it seems that the type of output isn't the cause of the problem.

It might be a Win2K thing then... Seems that is what is the common factor... I personally have never run CENTRAFUSE on Win2K and can say it works for me in XP... I didn't think I was using any API calls that shouldn't be in Win2K...

Any hopes of a work around? I guess if you don't have win2k you can't really work on this yourself I suppose. I did notice that VIA has released new drivers for the EPIA M that requires a bios update. The drivers I'm currently using are the ones that came with the CD and those are a couple of years old. Maybe I'll give that a try. I just have to hook up a floppy drive to boot up in DOS....
