Optimize Load time of CF?

Are there any switches or settings or anything that I can check off or add to improve the load time of CF? I'm currently booting to the the desktop in about 45sec from the time I hit the power button. But it takes another 18sec for CF to load. Is this a normal load time? Will more RAM help my load time?

800Mhz P3
256MB PC133
7200RPM 2MB Cach WD

Im hoping the new version will speed it up. it loads for me in about 20-30 sec. on a M10000, 256mb ram.

Well I just threw in 2 256MB sticks for the hell of it and that had absolutely zero affect on my boot time. So besides optimized code, I guess the only other thing I can do is throw in a faster CPU.

run taskman to try and see if CPU goes up when it is loading... it will also show you ram usage for the CF process... Maybe faster HD might help you...

But it will come down to the code... CF is bloody slow to startup on my Athlon 1.3... About 15-20secs, 1.3ghz 512mb ram

I doubt a faster HDD is going to help. It takes 13-14 sec to load, I've timed it several times, and half of that time it's not even accessing the HDD.

yeah the hd was a real long wshot.... It could be that it was just loading something very large fcrom HD->RAM but it isnt the case.... It comes down to .NET code being extremely slow unless it is heavily optimized like MMC's code... (Just as a proof of concept since it doesnt have nearly as many features as CF, but it is blazing fast)
