I think the shell problem is related to system variables. When starting CF direct as shell it is dependent of windows items (sound etc..) so if the variables where to find these items (done by windows) are not found the program will not start due to errors.
When CF loaded with a .bat file these variables are set because .bat files are ran in a seperate shell created to run programs etc...
that's my humble oppinion...

Ok, David, I know what the problem is now with your program not launching as a windows shell without a Batch! Ok, I have a temporary sol'n which works for now. Anyways
Test Setup:
XP Sp2 Patched to Nov 2004. Dx9.0c w/o the Manage Addon
.NET 1.1 Distribution Package
Centrafuse 1.2 and Test to Launch Normally.
Heres the Deal, as Shell, it give the Comman Language Error. Reason for this is that Centrafuse seems like it has to be Started within its Directory.
When Windows Executes the Shell, it Executes the command from "C:\Documents and Settings\'User'\". When I tested the Execution of Centrafuse from any location (including this) other then within the Centrafuse root it fails to load with the same error.
Sol'n, Shell line needs to have a redirect command to the Centrafuse Root before launching the app. One such Sol'n I am trying to figure out would go like this:
"cd \progra~1\fluxmedia\centrafuse\ && centrafuse.exe"
But thats not working as a shell key, will report back when it does work.

I fixed the problem in CF... It should work fine to put centrafuse.exe directly into the registry to replace the shell...
thanks to DaRacerz

So justintime and David maybe i missed it but how do you use CF1.2 as a shell I read about frodo LMF and the .bat file. David mentioned he imported it into the registry after making a few changes so is that change in 1.3 or is it available to 1.2 also.

Little unsure of what was meant

Also read other posts and awaiting CF1.3 like everyone else but I am more assured it is going to great product by what the developer said about not sitting around and waiting he's implenting new things while the last two screens are being developed.

nigwhyrito: I implemented the fix for adding centrafuse.exe directly to the registry in 1.3... If you want to make it work in 1.2 all you need to do is make a centrafuse.bat file. Inside that file put.
cd <directory where centrafuse is installed>
centrafuse.exe
Then put centrafuse.bat in the registry as the shell and it will work.

David,
Im interested in knowing what exactly 1.3 will do. Will it generate a bat file, and change the registry, all behind the scenes? Or is it doing something different altogether?

justintime: There is no bat file made... I modified centrafuse.exe to be able to run no matter what path it is launched from, which was the whole reason the bat file was needed...

One more thing http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=51635 needs to be updated now that David and others has found the easy way to make CF1.2 a shell
FAQ: Boot directly into your front end
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:
Note: Some front-ends work better than others:
FrodoPlayer - Had no problems
Cetrafuse - Does not like to be the shell. The next version should. Click here to read more.
Mobile Media Center - untested at the moment
RoadRunner - Works. Test by UK_MP3Car (post #13)
Neocar Media Center - Works with 0.7 beta 2. Tested by DJ-FrosT (post #12)
