Skinning CF 1.3 - can the following be done "easily"?

I'm finding that in full-screen mode, CF hogs too much valuable screen real-estate which should be used for the application you need to view full-screen (such as the map in iGuidance).

My question is whether the mock-up in the following picture can be achieved just by skinning..

thanks..

If you use SKINbedder with iG, you will be much happier .

I don't understand the question. This comp looks like it's taking up the same amount of real estate as the original skin does in full-screen mode. Is it not?

Keyboard/Close buttons seem to have been moved..
It would be great if those buttons where optional in showing or not..
Like in the external.xml add a <OSKCLOSE>False</OSKCLOSE>

/p

I agree that embedding apps in 1.3 takes too much screen real estate because of the whole row containing KEYBOARD and CLOSE buttons. IMHO this needs to change. The OPs suggestions looks good to me.

That will not fix the problem. When you embed anything into CF 1.3 (even through SkinBedder) you will have to live with the extra row at the top containing KEYBOARD and CLOSE buttons.

I am, but I wanted to keep it simple for the sake of the screenshot.

The Keyboard/Close bar is moved to the top of the screen, giving iGuidance more room. Apparently I should have posted side-by-side pics of current version and mock-up.

Exactly.

I'm making some progress with this in the skin. It's hella confusing though cause there's like a million tags in the XML.. lol

Correct. The perfect combination is moving the keyboard bar AND using skinbedder, see attached screenshot.

I managed to change the area that the full-screen app takes up; the keyboard/close bar and buttons are hidden underneath the app. I just need to locate the code to move the keyboard and close stuff in the XML.. but there are about a million tags, so it could take me a while.. lol

Is CF topmost titlebar area (that displays the current song name, date, etc. set to always be on top?

For instance, I'm trying to move the label for the fs-window into that area, but it gets cut off.. see pic

how about make it auto hide exactly like the windows task bar, that way its not in the way when you dont want it and you dont have to bother with configureing it to be shown or not for each app you embed.

...but how would you unhide it using a touchscreen? If you click the title bar it switches to non-fullscreen, and you might need to click the top of your embedded app so you can't un-hide when you click there. I suppose you could make it so it un-hide when you click the title bar and then add a different button to exit full-screen that is on the "header".

While we are adding buttons to the "header", we should have a next/prev track button there. I currently never use full-screen because I ALWAYS want access to the next track button.

how about creating a toggle fullscreen options like.. 1 click go to fullscreen with bottom music buttons on the screen, another click and it enlarges over those buttons, another click and it gets almost fullscreen leaving only keyboard and home button
