Unless I have missed it and they already work:

The ability to startup App1/App2 etc in the background so they are already running (but not neccessarily selected unless you choose them as your startup item).

A startup.xml or similar to launch background processes when running as shell. Not a biggy, I can re-write the background apps (such as steering wheel stalk control etc) as services if I have to.

I considered the pause/play switch, but decided against it... after looking at some home decks... I also realized that if switched the majority of the time the interface would be showing a pause icon, which I don't want... Makes sense to me to see pause when it's paused... I like to see the normal play icon on a daily basis, not pause...

David - What i'd like to see, and I think I mentioned it before, is a way to disable the 'Keyboard/Close' bar on fullscreen. It's good for some apps, but lets say i'm going to have a camera embedded...i'd like to be able to have more screen space!

In this case, could you overlay a little 'X' in one of the corners or something? Like in external.xml, *KEYBOARD* or something?

It's just a little gripe.. Same goes with iNav fullscreen... Firefox, though..it'll come in handy for!

there is a new load on start option in the setup gui... you can choose any section of the app and it will also show available external apps as an option too...

A way to exit an embeded app without the fullscreen keyboard/close bar would be very useful. When I embed my OBDII software it will only show the whole obdII screen in fullscreen mode without the bar (the obdII window is hard coded to only get so small). It takes up a significant amount of memory, so when I want to close it the only way is through file->exit and then I can't re-embed again without a restart.

Would like to be able to 'Force' a title scroll, when clicking on the top title bar....

Alternatively, how about getting a full window with the file's specs (Name, Artist, Encoding, Year, etc.) when clicking on the bar? I envision a window similar to the one you get when doing a 'System Info'.

Thanks

David ...

I did try the click and scroll feature when browsing through artists/albums today. That is indeed pretty neat.

It was a little challenging to land on the correct letter, simply because I'd hit a bump right as I was letting go (never fails) and so it'd go to the next letter up or down. But at least it got me close.

I imagine this is just as effective as a pop-up quick search like I mentioned. So no need to have both.

Great idea and implimentation.

That could have been me

Well, just try it out: listen to the change between 1% and 2% (or even between 0% and 1%) and then listen to the difference between 70% and 100%
The latter is nearly noticable, while the first is a bigger gap then I like.

I think it has something to do with watt/decibel ratio or db/sound-volume ratio.

Anyway, every commercial system uses the logarythmic way (it's a potmeter with 'log' on it in older amplifiers and radios ).

I guess most drivers or the windows api let you change the volume in 256 or 65536 steps, so it wouldn't be hard to have 0.25% steps in the lower volume range, 1% in the mid-lower range up to 5% a step (or even more) in the highest volume range.

This way you can also drop the % sign and just have 1-100 or 0-99 steps (or whatever).

Just a thought (a good one I like to think, lol).

Joa

P.S. I already have believers above AND beneath me

Oh I believe you ... my volume <15% is VERY touchy.

I did add some speed improvements... glad it was noticeable, wasn't sure if it would be...

I'm not trying to push a change as I do agree with David that although swapping Play/Pause doesn't make logical since, it may look better. However, my original suggestion for the play/pause was not only that it would be swapped (display pause when playing and play when paused), but also that it would display play whenever a different song in the list was selected. This way it makes logical sense, there is extra user feedback on the display, plus whenever you are activly using the interface it will be displaying the play icon.

I agree... now this is stuck in my head so I have to change it ... can't have one button not showing an icon that represents what it is going to do and can't have the logic be wrong when you change selections in the list.. what you suggested is exactly what I had in mind...

I admit I have not tried 1.4 yet, but isn't there a way to switch back to full-screen with key/close bar (after you exit your app)? FYI: If you exit an app manually like you describe, and then you later hit the close button in CF, you will be able to re-launch the app (at least that's how it works in 1.3).

Hey David: How about you put "Close Window" and "Re-Launch App" buttons on the window behind the embedded app (and maybe a "Reboot Computer" too that can be used if an app makes the whole system freak out). That way if the embedded app ever gets manually closed (or some how gets un-embedded), CF will be displaying those 2 (or 3) buttons.

Great minds think alike LOL.

PS: What would happen if you clicked a different song and then you clicked on the currently playing song again? Do you start the song over or do you pause it? I think I prefer pause, but I could be persuaded either way.

PPS: Actually, there should always be some way to pause, even if you have to find the currently playing track in the list first. You should also have a seperate hot-key dedicated to pause/resume always (even if a different song is selected in the list). This is of course in addition to the current play/pause hot-key that functions exactly as the on-screen button does.
