ID3 Tag Reading in CF + compilation tag!
David, please help.
I am having problems with CF reading ID3 tags in some of my files. I have no idea why. I just searched for an answer to this question for about 30 minutes and couldn't find it. Could you please let us know definitively what ID3 tag versions CF supports?
I can convert my entire library to one of the following versions using iTunes:
1.0
1.1
2.2
2.3
2.4
Also what tags does CF read at this time? I know of at least two it ignores, the compilation tag and the album art tag.
The compilation tag is SO important IMHO.
CF doesn't currently read this and throws all artists into one big mess. I have about 20 mix CDs and it's really crappy when they all appear in the main artist listing. Any chance you can add a config switch to nest compilations under their own heading? This would really help organize music for people!
David, thanks for your time and a great product.
Mark

I don't currently support reading embedded album art... I plan to look into adding this... I will look into the compilation tag... I don't currently read this in any format... I read:
artist, album, title, track, year, genre
I had this problem with some of my mp3's when I started using MCE... I ran a simple script in the GodFather to move all compilation tag information to Album...

So what version would be best to convert all my tags to? Best for CF that is...
I'd really love it if you added the compilation feature to CF. It's so nice for keeping all those pesky single track artists out of the main artist list and off in their own little list where they belong.
thanks

David, is there any posibility that you can have CF just output the title of the FILE and not read the ID3 tags? I think thats how it was in 1.2 I renamed all my music files to the way I wanted the outputed. Its gonna be a pain to rename the ID3 tags....

GodFather will populate your tags based on your filenames and it's all automated and quick...
I do also plan on adding the ability to customize the song title.... original filename will be one of the options...

It is a tag and rename software... Just go download GodFather and there is an option in there to set tags based on file structure... you can specify everything... for example set first folder to artist, second folder to album... or you can parse the filename based on a "-" and do it that way... many options..

Thanks justintime, I found one called, coincidently, "album art downloader". I'm guessing thats the one you were referring to. One quick, equally as stupid question, that could probably be found by searching either fluxmedia.net or somewhere in the main centrafuse forum location; is it necessary to name every album cover "folder.jpg" in order for centrafuse to pick them up?
thanks again, and sorry for hi-hjacking the thread :/
