could you maybe embed a webcam viewing/capturing program like Gotcha! into CF and view/record them that way?

i haven't found any touchscreen friendly webcam apps so far.

entr0py wrote a little app that will display the image from a webcam and caputure an image, but doesn't record video. It looks promising, however, and I hope he will expand on it. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=56195

embedding applications into cf is a matter of modifying the external.xml file located in the \flux media\centrafuse\system\ directory.

well - touchscreen friendly yes; but captures neither image nor video, and i was unable to get it running on 3 different PCs, so I've given up on that one.

i used Frodocam previously and it is TS friendly. Only problem I experienced was very slow refresh rates. Directshow through explorer gives 25fps+ at 640x480 yet frodocam looked more like about 10fps (using a USB2.0 colour webcam with night vision)

Could direct show not be built into CF to allow display of cams natively.

a Centrafuse webcam plugin could easily be built with my SDK, which will be available after 1.5 is released...

for all the programmers out there here is the API...

http://www.centrafuse.com/api

note: mainly check out the CFPlugin class... it is what will be used to create plugins...

You n00bs!! Just kidding...
Nullsoft (Streaming|S as in Soft) Video will record from a web cam to a file. It is open sorce too so you should be able to write some code to embed it into CF.

And if you have your cell phone internet dialup working, then this software will stream your web cam via shoutcast to a winamp client.

http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/
download the NVS tools... http://www.nullsoft.com/nsv/nsvtools-setup.exe

after you install, open NVS Live Capture > chose your web cam in the Devises drop down > then goto File > Set capture destination > pick "File". It will save it in NVS format that can be played back with Winamp
( www.winamp.com )

To stream your web cam you will need to down load the ShoutCast DNAS Server. You can run the server software from your home PC if you always have a way to know the ip address, i.e. the no-ip.com trick or static

I have not tryed this and there could be port issues streaming over a GPRS provider. shoutcast uses port 8000 and 8001 by default but can be adjusted.

let me know if you have questions and I will try to help.

now I am just going to have to go try this and see if I can get it to work while driving on the highway.
