Importing Music

Im pretty new to the Carputer Scene, but im in the phase of choosing a frontend. Centrafuse is by far, the best frontend for me out there and i thinkg its absolutely Fabulous!!!.

I have the software and im tweaking it now on my desktop before it gets into the carpc. I have a few problems that are baffling me and hopefully i can get some resolve.

First--I just spent the last 2 hours trying to catalog all my music files (896). When I open centrafuse though, it seems like it uses only 3 album cover photos to put on all the music. I have charlie Daniels band songs with the Metallica Reload album cover on them. I went into Windows Media player and tried to download the album info for about 12-15 songs, and it still just throws around 3-5 different album covers.

***IS there a program out there that will catalog and assign album covers to all your music in your library? If not, why does centrafuse want to do what it is doing to all of my music?

Secondly, It says that the phonecontrol.net software is integrated into Centrafuse, but I cant find it.

Thirdly, THe voice recognition software is in release 1.5 correcT? So i shouldnt be driving myself nuts trying to look for it then...

Thanks allot for any info you guys can provide for me on this matter.

P.S. the button on the lower right hand side of the interface.....what the hell does it do? and what is the VP whatver option in the setup far right tap in the tools bar. It asks for a comm port and device name. Weird...

Thanks again guys.

I might have found my solution, but im so confused on how to implement it

**CF recognizes album art in the name of folder.jpg. I have 800 Songs in one directory. Is there a way to get each song to have album art? or do I have to make a directory for each band/album etc..etc..? Is there a way for CF to read Embedded album art in the ID3 tag? or is that even possible. Someone please help...I've spent all day on this

if you keep all your music files in one folder then there is no way in the current version to display album art properly...

I have my music organized in folders by artists, albums, songs... there is a folder.jpg in every album folder...

I plan to look into reading embedded album art, but I don't currently support it..

Veetid,

Thanks for the advice. I just finished following it and everything works flawlessly. I download the Album Art Downloader and it works like a champ. Now all my music has album art and im good to go.

**On a side note, is there a way to add a TV watching button into CF? or would i have to embed my tv watching software into the program under the apps section?.

Again, thanks soooo much for your help. Awesome product too!! This thing is a miracle.

you would need to embed your tv application using the external applications section... I plan to write a tv plugin at some point... The next release will support my SDK and plugins, so it should be wide open for lots of development and hopefully lots of plugins will start to show up on the scene...

not currently... the upcoming release will simply load the first jpg it finds, so it can be called anything...

If I may offer my opinion, I don't think this is a good idea. The reason being is the Media Center and Media Player download multiple JPG files for each album of different sizes.

You can do it front.jpg or album.jpg cover?.jpg .... if none of them exist then take the first one the program finds.

I already check for "name of the file.jpg" first... I then check for folder.jpg and if it doesn't exist load the default... I will make it do what it does now, then look for album.jpg, then if that doesn't exist grab the first jpg in the folder, then if that doesn't exist load the default...
