Exclamation USB FM Radio from Silicon Laboratories (with source code)

This is not the RDS version. But there will be an RDS version too!

It’s a simple USB key format module with a cca 70 cm long wire, as the aerial.
The unit is a possibility of use of the SLAB chip FM Radio Tuner Si4701 and USB enabled microcontroller ( C8051F321).

Very simple but good working software. Can download from this link: http://www.silabs.com/public/documen...n/USBRadio.exe
developed in C++ and visual studio 6.0 and the source code is available: http://www.silabs.com/public/documen...en/AN264SW.zip
All of codes, skin parts, and headers can download from here. This is a good possibility for the further developing. The users guide link is: http://www.silabs.com/public/documen...B-Radio-RD.pdf
The downloaded part an exe file only. Not any installation required, click on, and working.
The string and closing speed is very impressive! Starting and closing immediatelly. This is a good thing for embedding any frontend software for Car PC-s.

From this thread:http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/hardware-development/64550-usb-fm-rds-solution-sofware.html

where does the antenna plug in? that USB stuck under the seat will most likely not get good reception... and this needs to be added to thread asking what radios people want supported...

note: I see it has a wire aerial, but any type of connector to plug into a real antenna?

you can make your own antenna adapter...

The reason for this thread is the software. Maybe CF could use some code.
If not then make the hardware to support CF.

You can connect your OEM antenna.
If you can build a whole car PC. There wont be a problem to build a little adapter.
I needed to do that for my D-Link USB radio to use my OEM antenna.

This is a little off-topic now. discuss more about the hardware on hardware forums.

I remember there being something about the type of antenna it uses. If it doesn't use a similar one that using your car antenna won't help you.

PPFFFF!!!!!!!

quite no PC hardware has a car compatible antenna plug....A little adaptor is not really difficult to do. We won't be bloqued about the connectors....

You've tested it in a vehicle. What antenna did you use?
