Which, I might add, does nothing if the Navi program doesn't have the cross streets or address, which is one of the things that the OP stated.

Now, can it be done, I bet it can. Is it worth it, I doubt it. Too much programing, the "drunk" person must walk around with a gps and cell phone connected somehow, and then be undrunk enough to execute the program to send the SMS.

There is just so little need, and too much involved to get it done. Not that it CAN'T be done, just that there is little reason to do it.

i dont know why do you think it is complicated in coding i can implemnt somethign like with 20 raws of code only !!!
let me explain
1-new button in NAV plugin has the text Send Location
will do the flowing open the send sms in phonecontrol, and fill it with CF_Location longitude, latitude then you pick one of your contacts to send SMS to
2-a simplie "IF statment" in PhoneControl that check the first text in any incomming SMS if "CF_Location" found will popup "new location recevied" form, if you click ok PhoneControl will set the longitude, latitude in Destinator and hit Navigate
thats all
it could be done with 20 to 30 rows of code and it is not complicated at all.

Well, perhaps you have the knowledge to write code, that is all well and good. But you are missing soooo many steps. First, you have to get the Lat and Lon into the SMS. Where does that come from. It is probably not native in the cell phone. unless you are talking about getting the information from one caputer to another. That shouldn't be so hard. However, if there is no carputer at the other end, like the guy is standing somewhere, getting the GPS info will be more difficult then you think.

Next, once you get the Lat and Long into the SMS and out to the recipient, all he now has is Lat and Lon. Your GPS program can't do anything with it. Can you just type in a Lat and Lon into your Navi program and start navigating. i don't think so. So, you would have to convert the lat and lon into some sort of location. Well, you need a program for that. Then, once you have the location (non lat and lon) you have to have that location in your Navi program. Since you said that the location can't be found if your buddy says, I am at the corner of so and so and whatchamecallit, what good will the location be since it is just converted from Lat and Lon.

So, to sum it up for you, you can;t enter lat and lon into your Navi program and expect to get there, and if you can't find it when you buddy says "I am here" what good would converting the lat and lon to a location do for you, and how will you get the GPS coordinates to put them into an SMS?

Michael

K, I did some research, and there is a program that will convert the Lat and Lon to a location, and automatically enter it into Destinator. You can see it here http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/bar...osgps_main.htm

However, like said before, if the location isn't in Destinator, then you can't get to it, so whether your buddy gives you a location that can't be found, or his GPS gives you a location that can't be found, you can't Navigate to it.

U dont need any source code... Phonecontrol and for example mapmonkey have plugin infrastructure or SDK which should make it possible. Although if i would personally do it... i would skip phonecontrol alltogether... in carputer end implementing it as mapmonkey plugin should be enough...
