idea to navigate from point A to point B using Destinator and PhoneControl !!

i have an idea guys
let us say you are in some point A and one of your friends in point B and he is trying to navigate you to his location but it was not possible for some reason.
i was thinking about adding a new functionality to destinator which is send location by sms when this function excuts it will send the curent location by sms through phonecontrol, the receptiant will receve this msg on his system and a new window will popup with "someone sent you his location do you want to navigate now"
yes - no
if you click yes your phonecontrol will send the location to destinator and navigation will start !!
what do you think guys ??

sorry for my bad english

Also, not many phones can send you an address like that. I also don't think you can send a longitude and latitude like that. WHere in the phone would that come from. How would it get into the SMS?

This is just silly.... ofcourse it would only allow contacts from numbers on your buddy list and only one per person at the time rest would be filtered out.

Ofcourse 99% of new applications allow new venues for denial of service attacks... but gosh if we would allow that to stop development, we wouldnt have internet, telephone, public road networks, shops... do i need to go on...

getting even more sillier.... eaten too many mushrooms today, people??? Every phone which can send sms can send address, then navigator at receiving end can do translation to coordinates. Besides all bluetooth phones can be connected to external wearable GPS module, for example LD-1W from nokia, so getting coords is no prob either

sms can send anythign, it can send hex code like when some one sends you a ringtone.
it is not that complecated the sms will contain CF_Location x,y
CF_Location so phonecontrol can recognize that this sms should passed to destinator and x,y it the longitude and latitude or whatever needed to find a location.

Why wouldn't your friend look at the intersection he's at and send it's address? Seems a lot more mainstream than them needing a GPS at hand.

Oh, I see, he has a GPS unit with him, which he then queries for Lat and Lon, then inputs that into the SMS, which is automatically then put into the location for you to NAv to.

That really makes little sense. First of all, how often do you have a location that you can't find in your Navi program? If that happens often, I suggest a different Nav program that covers your area. Next, if he has a GPS and can give you the Lat and Lon, then maybe you should just manually put that into your program after converting them with this (http://franson.com/coordtrans/index.asp?ref=google) or some other program. No need to do it automatically, and also, it seems like an extra step that is not needed, and also, there is room for human error (your mate has to put the co-ordinates in correctly and perfectly, and we all now, putting that info into an SMS will take lots of time) when you can pull out your keyboard and enter them very quickly while he talks to you on the phone.

Doesn't seem worth the time to make, andthe uses are VERY limited.

Isnt that room for human error just the reason to do it automaticly... basicly in phone end it would be just a program which would query gps device and automaticly with 1 button click send queried data to nav software plugin via sms, which would do address translation and routing.

And it makes sense... when u have to go pick up ur drunken kids...

EDIT: jesus, dude, in what century u live at... if u r thinking writing coords sms manually

The problem is getting the Coordinates into the Phone. Plain and simple. THe guy has to have a gps, connected to the phone, and then, someone has to write some program to grab the coordinates and SMS them automatically. Then, someone/same person has to write a program that will read the sms, and automatically input the co ordinates into a program/write a program that can convert them to an address, and then get that into the address field of the Navi program. Which, I might add, does nothing if the Navi program doesn't have the cross streets or address, which is one of the things that the OP stated.

Now, can it be done, I bet it can. Is it worth it, I doubt it. Too much programing, the "drunk" person must walk around with a gps and cell phone connected somehow, and then be undrunk enough to execute the program to send the SMS.

There is just so little need, and too much involved to get it done. Not that it CAN'T be done, just that there is little reason to do it.

Im pretty sure phone part is already existing for personel security applications... so it would leave only nav-soft plugin to be implemented for our "drunk-cab" car-pc enthuasist...

And in case he would have to implement phone part too... he can sell it with good price (especially if integrated with bluetooth hearth rate reader) for securing up traveling business men and employees of big companies.
