CF volume vs. alternatives?

OK maybe this is a little stupid and can obviously be handled outside the application, but when CF tanked on registration issues once again, I switched temporarily to RoadRunner and immediately noticed that the music volume was significantly higher than in CF. I know Dave's got some sort of log volume setup which isn't my favorite way of handling things, but I can run CF up to 100% and listen to it all day but RR I never brought it up above 50% and achieved just as much volume. I honestly think RR's sound quality running thru Winamp is superior as well.

Sadly, RR's interface still doesn't hold a candle to CF, so what can I do but wait for future releases and enjoy? Just curious if anyone else has noticed a volume difference between CF and other applications.

The log volume is optional in 1.7, it can be disabled and it will like you describe...

I personally love the log volume, but I come from a sound background... I also noticed it didn't work well with all sound drivers, so that could be another thing that is happening because when it works right, it is MUCH better way to control your volume... It's the professional way...

but now it can be disabled so everyone will be happy and for compatibility...

veetid, nice to hear you have a sound background. how do you think about ASIO compatibility for CF? I think a lot of users have pro sound cards, which can be driven directly through ASIO. It might even bypass the 'windows mixer' which is present (and presumably deteriorates sq) when running through WDM driver. In my case, it's an emu 1820m, so you could run 5.1 directly out of CF to the soundcard and set delays for each channel as well.

btw, did VST support made it to 1.7?

thanks!
