But if you've found a nice fix, well done

I'm looking into this problem... It's something with my Destinator object and the ports not opening/closing properly...

I should know something in a couple of days...

The reason setting to None might work is because once you set your COM port once, it was written into the Destinator file... but when you then set your COM port to None it does not run my open/close COM port functions in the object...

That might make it just read from the Destinator file, after you have it set, and make it work...

Either way, I'm getting it fixed...

I have a real serial GPS on COM2 and do not have this problem.
I wonder if it's to do with windows finding USB devices again upon resuming.

I have a real GPS on a serial port, a bluetooth, and a serial GPS... I can play with the virtual COM ports with my EarthMate driver and eventually get it to not work on a COM port, but if I then just set it to another one and enable, it works and stays working...

Having trouble tracking this one down, but I have issued it as a bug to the navigation folks, so they are also looking into it...

just tried destinator with italian maps (and italian speech), got a couple of problems
1) I'm not able to make it SHUT UP! it keeps telling me what to do, even if I disabled voice commands on cf menu.. Ok I said, shut down the whole program.. it keeps talking to me, from the background, a voice from the grave.. scary
2) whit destinator on foreground I use the dropdown menu to set options (but a lot of them does not apply, like the metric measuring), click on Save button and destinator jumps on foreground leaving "settings" window behind, so I have to click on the small visible portion of the "close" button to close settings window.

by the way I think the whole configuration routine is buggy... going from the com port (same bug as others, I have to set "None" to make it work), throught the metric problem to the SHUT UP problem... if I deselect voice commands CF stops fading the sound during voices, but the voices remains...
I solved the metric problem (and half of the voice problem, disable the fading) deleting destinator.ini and settings the right values in cf configurations once again.. but seems buggy to me
