Rc2 Without Progress Bar???
Hi David,
I have seen your RC2 progress report and noticed that you still not have implement a progress bar to CF.
I would ask if you aim to put one?

I would beg that you don't. And if you absolutely must, PLEASE make it such that it is optional via skin changes. (i.e., leave a way to enable regular buttons via skin)

A progress slider is not on the list of features to get immediately added...

It should be ... every single front end made has one. Even the ones that are only mp3 players with big buttons. Those ghetto ones choose to include that because its an important yet simple feature that should be added.

A progress slider, is what makes the carpc media player interface different from every other cd/dvd/vcd touchscreen headunit on the market.
Now with that said, i would never choose a slider over ff/rr buttons but i think it should have both. And the ability to remove it via skins is a good idea.

What about an option to enable or disable the bar? The bar could be fitted behind the title in video fullscreen mode. (When I'm home from work I'll make a screenshot to clarify.)

The idea looks good but i think it would be too thin, a little bigger (larger) would be better.

If you absolutely must have it, I would suggest it work like this:
1) Press Play button for 3 seconds.
2) Huge slider pops up in the center of the screen (like the volume OSD window does) and user can click slider knob etc.
3) Pressing outside of the window will eliminate the slider popup.
4) Timeout of 4 seconds will also eliminate the slider popup.

I feel somewhat like justintime on the issue. I have absolutely no need for a slider. Just out of curiousity, what does everyone else need it for?
If i'm listening to music, i'm not going to take the time to 'slide' through the song. I don't need to know where I am in the song (there is a well-working reverse count in CF)
I mean, honestly, I don't understand WHY you would need it?

Wow great! it solves the problem of further skin integration...
But i think that the holding buttons are not safety when driving.
for example the fast forward/rewind button needed to be holded...I found very difficult to use these features when driving because you need to keep the finger on it but we shake a lot in car when driving so the finger slide out of the button ...Etc...

For example, with some music (long versions ones like Vinyl version) you need to pass a long intro untill the middle of the song.
Another example, you could have some long session files like one album/mix in one MP3 and need to forward a lot.
And like told FrmDrkSide:

DAVID, perhaps you should make a survey (??) for an OPTIONAL progress slider

Seems more use on a video/film than it is in music.
