Speed CAM file format
Every keeps asking for speed CAM support in Navigation, so I will be adding it... It will not be difficult, just have to choose an alert sound... anyway...
What format is everyone's file to import in? Can someone email one to support?
are there multiple file format people use?
david

Speedcam file
one of the many for UK, not sure how old it is but you'll get the idea of format.
This is what CDRSkull has Freedrive able to import through a menu.
Others can be downloaded from www.pocketgpsworld.com

PS. I think CSV is best way to go as people would then have the ability to import any POI as the convertor programs will convert pretty much any file to CSV, plus they are easy to view and edit

So CSV with the latitude and longitude always being in position 2 and 3 in the file?
Should I display position 0 as the name?
I guess position 1 is the application that exported, will this be standard? Should have the option to specify where to read and what the delimiter is?
Is that neccesary or are these files a standard?

Does anyone have the speed camera BMP and alert sound file people have been using that looks good with D3?

In TomTom all POI's can be alerted, this is really good, since there is more than 1 type of speedcam. Because of this I have separate warning depending wich speed limit or what type of cam it is.
So my warnings go like this:
"Speedcam! Speedlimit is 40 km/h."
"Speedcam! Speedlimit is 50 km/h."
"Speedcam! Average speed is 50 km/h."
"MC Donalds ahead"
What I am trying to say is that making the Allerter able to alert all types of POI categories with a user selectable sound, will make all the difference. I have passed a speedcam in 80km/h beliveing that this was the speedlimit. Only to get a 300$ fine in the mail because the speedlimit was 70km/h.

This is a very worthwhile feature.

Got a nice Gatso sign that is 20x20, and pretty clear. Will post up when I get home
I took the "Warning, Speed Camera Ahead" .wav from TomTom IIRC.
I'll have a look tonight if I remember.
It would also be nice if it did distinguish between the different types of camera, like 30,40,50,60,70 (mph), Mobile Site, Traffic lights Camera etc. Another nice feature I was trying to get CDRSkull to include into Freedrive was a custom speed monitor, for motorway average speed cameras which you can hit a button and it then warn you if you go over that speed.

It is not planned, but if I get the time I will add it in...
If not it will be included in the first update package... RC2 will include online updates...

And another thing. there should be an easy way to add a new speedcam via an addspeedcam button like MM and you should also be able to insert the speed there! as not all the speedcams are in the CVS file. Also the ability to delete them easy should be there i think.
For the warning system. get a picture of a speed sign and let CF put the numbers in it depending on where you drive. this way you won't need the speed signs for every country just use the maximumspeed information from Destinator.
one other thing.. maybe you can put in a warning when you go over a certain speed of a certain amount to fast.. nothing fancy just a short pulse but our BMW has it and it keeps you from speeding to much :P
