What are you guys using to play DVDs

I installed nlite which stripped out WMP and its dvd decoder. So what are you guys using for DVD playback in centrafuse. I downloaded the K-lite codec pack and use the ffdshow decoder or something, but hte video and sound was jerky. I tried WinDVD but its not letting me install because of some missing components. Is there just a standalone decoder or codec I can use?

its what RR uses as the default DVD player and is standalone. I actually use it on my house PC now as I got sic of all the wmp hassles.

Well I must say, it works great, no stuttering!

But, CF won't play DVDs still because I guess its looking for a codec to decode the DVD, but MPC is an exe with the codecs built in, I presume.

Ok I've got it working now properly with the k-lite codec pack standard. If anyone is interested I'll post the settings I used for video and audio. Smooth as silk on pIII 850mhz, 256mb ram. Video shows compression/decompression artifacts in the background, especially in black areas, but I guess I can live with it.

Here is how to get DVDs working in Centrafuse, if you don't have PowerDVD( which I dont have), WinDVD (which won't install because of missing packages, presumably due to nlite), or Windows Media Player (removed using nlite). I tried simply downloading and installing FFDshow as well as several standalone codecs, and it didn't work. Mind you, this may not be the easiest or most efficient way, but it worked for me.

1) Go here and download the K-lite codec pack - standard: http://mirror.edskes.net/

2) When installing, uncheck media player classic (unless you want it) and all the audio filters (before i left these enabled and i think it slowed down my pc)

3)After installation, go to video configuration from the start menu k-lite-->configuration group

4) Select MPEG2, and select the last codec on the dropdown menu. You will get a checkbox saying at the bottom saying 'Allow DVD playback (not working)'. Check that. This will get video working.

**For audio, I am not sure which of these is the one that actually enables audio playback, but I tried different combinations, and this one worked. I will try and refine later on tonite to find the exact one, but for now this is what I remember off the top of my head.**

5) Go to audio configuration from your start menu, it should be right next to video configuration from before. Everything should be disabled if you deselected audio during the installation. Select codecs for AC3, AAC, MP2 (there should only be one) and uncompressed audio (all the way at the bottom of the list, select all supported). Also select dolby decoding from the list of checkboxes on the far left. This got audio working for me on the two test DVDs that I had.

Hope this works, let me know if someone has any suggestions or questions.
