I don't support that radio directly, so unless you are using Radiator you just got audio because the radio was on and playing through the wave output most likely...
there are a few radio plugins I would like written... the RadioShark, Silabs, ADS....
I have some bugs to fix and to finish the HQCT and then I can work on some new radio modules...
the API is very simple for adding radios in CF now, I wish some programmers would come aboard and write some radio plugins... It's not very hard, especially if the radio has an SDK... we are talking a few hours if there is an SDK...

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...t=64550&page=7
that Bj done. The original software works excellent except i couldn't see RDS data on it. When used with the radiator plugin created by a member who posted it on the same thread as far as i remember, radiator works too. This meant CF would run it too. So i opened CF and, yes, it works as expected, but there is a minor issue. You hear two instances of the same sound, one following other after like 2 sec. I couldn't kill one of them, actually the latter as i think it's listened from the virtual sound port created by the silabs while radiator runs it and played back again buffered by CF. So either CF has to directly use Radiator and not buffer it, or buffer it but mute radiator. I'm loudly thinking now as i don't know the exact mechanism between radiator, CF and USB radio devices which don't have real output channels.
David, would you comment on that? Silabs is really good USB FM card with excellent price/performance ratio. It's sound quality is almost in par with HQCT most of the times. It would be great to use it with CF. It also has source code, so a direct interface of Silabs to CF can be developed without using Radiator.
i haven't been able to get the silabs tuner to work with radiator? i tried searching for the dll or instructions but i havent been able to find the appropriate thread. could you please direct me?
i also noticed that my audio is coming in extremely stuttered, making it inaudible basically. i then noticed that if i unplug some of my other usb devices it helps. this is not going through a hub, but rather directly into my 4 port pcmcia card, so i didnt think there would be an issue wiht mixing 1.1 and 2.0. any insight?

I finally got my little radio working with radiator and I have the same issue as mentioned above with the audio being duplicated in CF. Is there any way to get a direct port of the sound into CF? If we could get that problem solved this would be a perfect solution.

you can disable the audio buffering all together in the upcoming release, so radios that do not have audio outputs will work better...
you hear duplicate because if you have the sound going in line-in, then I am recording line-in and playing it back... But if you have the line-in unmuted in the playback section of the windows mixer also, or the device has it's own USB audio device that I can't mute, you will hear duplicate audio...
all you need to do is mute the devices audio playback and only use the line-in recording output...
If it's a device like the SiLabs then you would disable audio buffering in radio settings in the upcoming release...
I also plan to get a radio module built for this radio...

Silabs vers Radiator in CF
I just received my Silabs FM tuner.
I know that it’s not supported in CF, but I use the RR .DLL file for radiator. Meaning that I use Radiator as my radio device.
Have following questions:
1. When I run Radiator, it’s able to scan channels/tune and finding them.
2. I am not able to receive RDS information in Radiator. Any one got this to work?
My problem is.
When setting CF 5.0 to use Radiator as my device, it’s ******* up…….
1. When I start the CF radio (RADIO), Radiator is displayed on top
2. When I scan (SCAN), it’s scanning, but not stopping at any stations. Also the scanning is WEARY slow.
3. Chancing frequency,(</> ore <</>>) works OK
4. Enter Tuning frequency at a known station, (TUNING) works OK
5. Changing presents, it’s changing CF precents (same line level as phone signal, phone battery level, net connection and date) but not Radiator presents….
Any one discovered the same problems when using Radiator? Is it a bug in the Radiator plug-in?
Otherwise I can report that Silabs USB FM radio works great, and have a good reception (Have not tested in my car yet)
With firmware I have RDS information. Fast tuning.
For Danish thread readers, I have purchased the device from c88.com at a price 350 dkr. including tax and delivery
Hope that some one will take Dave’s request up, and create a plug-in for this tuner while it’s ideal for a CarPc.
I could do it my self, but are not a programmer

do you mean the radio.dll? or is there a separate rr.dll? i thought the radio.dll posted was for radiator and then someone made a compatible rr plugin for it.... i dont think i've gotten mine to have as much functionality as you stated. anyways though, david said he'd be adding a module for us so i wouldnt waste your time on it now.

using radiator has it's limitations... a Radio Module needs to be written for this radio...
it's a very simple interface... I will get to it as soon as I can, hopefully someone will beat me too it...

ok i have a few questions and yes, they are most likely newb questions. i usually flame newbs on my car related forums so now it seems that i get a bit of my own medicine. hahaha.
anyway i've tried searching and have found some good info but it seems that im overwhelmed with options. my original plan was to use an aux mod on my oem radio soley for the purpose to not lose the radio stations. however, i'd rather just complete eliminate the oem radio and use the computer. with the silabs usb radio adapter and the provided software, is there anything else i need in order to get the radio function on the computer when using centrafuse?
again, sorry for the newb questions. i feel dumb for not knowing. ask me anything about engines and i can break it down for you. lol.

There is not currently a Silabs Centrafuse Radio Module built, it would not take much and I plan to build one, but not had the chance...
If anyone is up for it, it should be pretty easy... just sign into the FDN on the Flux website and get the SDK download, it has all the code for the current radio modules and with Silabs examples on the internet a module should be able to be built pretty easy...
otherwise if you can get the radio to work in Radiator then you can set Centrafuse to use Radiator and it should work that way, if Radiator supports that radio...

you can't buy Centrafuse yet, but you can download the trial, register on the site, and then login, then click "My Account" in the top right and request a Beta tester serial number...
If it works in Radiator you should be fine in Centrafuse until a good CF Radio Module for the Silabs is created...

hey the415
If you see my post nr 21 in this thread, you can see how mutch (and not) you can controll with your silabs USB radio with radiator plug-in in CF.
If using radiator use USBRadio.dll. But I do recormend that you use the original software untill a plug-in for CF is made.
