tv tuner in cf

ok bought both a wintv pvr usb2 and a wintv hvr-950. bought both to see which one would work better. both work perfect with the supplied software (of course). but when i use them in centrafuse get picture only but no sound no matter what settings i use in centrafuse. anybody else had this problem? if so hwo to fix it. and so far the HVR-950 is the best one out of the both and it also will recieve astc signals to digital hdtv signals. but no FM like the pvr usb2 does. but yea the HVR-950 in my area works better then the usb2 does picks up even digital signals very well was surprised for such a small device. especialy with the supplied antenna cant imagine what amped antenna would do.

I have the same problem using a Hauppauge WinTV HVR1100 PCI card. There is no sound in the TV mode despite the fact there is sound when I use the WinTV2000 software supplied with the card. If I select in the TV settings an "audio device", which in my case is the "Intel Integrated audio" on a Dell GX240, the TV repeatedly bleeps, until I reselect none for "audio device".

Another problem is when I toggle between the TV, the composite video input and the S-video input (I have two cams going into the WinTV card), the signal on the S-video input disappears into a blue screen. The TV and the composite signal are unaffected.

Can anyone help?

you should be selecting the TV Audio source of your TV tuner, not your sound card... For example with my USB WinTV device I have a WinTV Audio Device that I select and the audio comes in...

the drivers didn't install the first go around, but they were on the disc, then I loaded WinTV2000 and made sure it was selected to send the audio through the USB, then selected WinTV USB Audio Device and the audio came through just fine...

never used the device you are talking about, but it should be similiar... if it's a PCI card it should have it's own Audio device, unless it outputs to Wave, then you would hear it anyway...

im having the same problem with a USB tv tuner. Basicly there is no AUDIO DEVICE that i can select the audio source in CF. Maybe its a driver issue, is there any way i can make the audio source of the tv tuner appear in cf?

does it appear in device manager? I will look for my CD so I can see what it was called, but when I called tech support the person knew exactly what I was talking about, told me where to go in the WinTV driver CD, installed an audio device, then I opened WinTV2000 and set audio to come through USB and made sure it was checked, then select the proper Audio Device in Centrafuse and all worked...

A company that does work with us used the WinTV USB devices at the SEMA show last year and had to do the same tasks... He actually got the audio driver from their website I believe...

Once you have it properly installed you should see a new sound device in device manager for the WinTV audio...

Hi,

The tv tuner does appear in device manager but there is no sperate device for the audio. like i said the tuner works fine it its dedicated software. I took another video card to test out from work today also, its a avermedia a16d hybrid card with FM. This card uses BDA drivers and i cannot get it to work either with cf. Basicly i get no picture at all on any of the channels i try. All is displayed is a noisey grainey grey screen. again the tuner works fine in its dedicated software.

Same problem with Cinergy 600. The device appears in the device manager. However it does not appear in Centrafuse under "audio device" in TV settings. The sound is sent through the mic input of my soundcard. The card works fine with it's own software but I had to change the setting from Greece to Germany(I live in Greece). Otherwise I got crappy sound. The same thing happens with Centrafuse! Is there any way to fix it?

So you get video but no audio?

Did you try to select MIC as the audio device? If not try that...

I believe there might be an issue with the TV and using sound card inputs, but that should not be hard to fix...

Let me know...

If you load TV and hear no sound, load the windows mixer while Centrafuse is running and go to the recording section of the mixer... Then make sure to select the input you are using, you said MIC I believe...

Then go to the playback section and make your input, MIC, is unmuted...

Then you should hear audio...

After this test I will know the issue and can fix it...

Also before you do this testing, make sure Centrafuse is closed, delete any error.log file in the root install folder, then do the testing above...

Then if a new error.log is created it will be only relevant information and post that here with your results...

I did not do much testing with the sound card inputs and TV, I used all USB devices for testing and they send the audio through a seperate audio device... Mainly because I develop mostly on a laptop, lots of travel...

I think I have a USB WinTV though that I can switch to use audio output jacks instead of USB and test this... I will look into it as well...

video, channel changing, source input changing all works fine, just audio right?

if you get snow then the device is getting init then... With Centrafuse loaded does the software it came with give an error? If so then that should mean Centrafuse did init the device and is talking with it and has it locked...

First are there any updated or possibly older more stable drivers you can try? Just anything different to rule out drivers?

Did you set PAL/NTSC setting?

I assume you are having an audio issue as well... Check my post above and run the same test and let me know the results...

I DO get sound. But crappy one. Like noise. I get the same problem with it's own software when I set the country to Greece. If I set Germany everything is fine.

Oh and no error log...

Personally, I think it's because the audio gets routed through the PCI bus. I've had an issue with tuners that route the audio through the PCI bus and other software, not CF. Since there's no "sound card" or the like for the tuner's output, the audio gets lost on the PCI bus and never goes anywhere. I just carefully select my tuners based on what I'm doing. However, I'd love to learn the solution to this issue...
