Speed Camera Aware GPS's Banned in Switzerland

Switzerland bans some GPS devices for speed camera warnings

On January 10th a law went into effect banning the use of a navigation device to warn of speed surveillance locations, and police now have the authority to stop drivers using their GPS units for such a purpose, confiscate and destroy the device and fine the driver.

I didn't know, that this has been recognized outside my country

It's not a new law btw. They just deal with those devices equally to speed camera detectors.

Cheers,
Sachmet.

Not going to be illegal everywhere, in the UK the camera lot are required to publish where the cameras are. To ban these devices would be to admit that it's all about money and not about accident blackspots.

Personally though, I'd recommend that anyone wanting to do this get one of the GPSes with it built in, the speed cam databases you can get off the internet are crap in my experience, especially when it comes to removing cameras that are no-longer present. As a bonus most of them can then be hooked up to the CarPC to provide GPS data to CF.

this is why my approuch has nothing to do with speed camera's... you can import favorites and once I get the methods written you can hide/show/alert favorite folders...

what you added or named your favorites is up to you...
