Why not have all modules like XM/Phone&BT/GPS/Wifi as seperate modules which you pay a little extra for, and have a Core version of CF. Instead of pushing thing people don't want/need!

That way you could also have packages with compatible hardware; GPS receivers, and PhoneCTL with compatible BT Dongle and BT Stack etc.

And ultimately sell CF on its own platform with all required hardware... Im rambling so I'll stop!

I have to agree with most people about the price of Centrafuse XLE....its way to expensive.
I have been using CF for over a year and love it. I had to reinstall and found out that the 'administrator has disabled' the install file....I am guessing this means its expired.
Went to get the latest....now I have to pay $275!! No thanks. I can use RR for free and even by a seperate of the shelf nav unit for hardly anything these days.

IMO - Centrafuse has become a rip off. If the price was half what it is it would be perfect.....and prob. sell far more than twice as many copies i.e. Make David more money.

Good business dictates you can't stick a high price and try and make money back fast. You start with a resonable price, shift high units, make back you cash, add extras at minimal cost and upgrade fees.

High price at the start just puts people off, loses custom and in time ruins companies.

nothing we can do about our prices from Destinator and that is ALL the cost of XLE, straight to Destinator...

this is why we offer SE/XE and you can use other navigation programs such as iGuidance...

we are also about to offer different regions, such as XLE UK/Ireland, Italy, Germany, etc... So you don't have to pay for all of Europe...

I think that Centrafuse XLE is absolutely great value. In Australia, if you want to get a navigation system that runs on a PC (that is legal) you have only a few options.
Prices start at AUD $ 279.00 (US $ 251.00) for Copilot Laptop. You must also look at the quick response to bugs and issues. David and his team must not sleep.I give them 3 cheers.

I should have mentioned that just to buy Destinator 6 Australia Software for PocketPC PDA's is AUD $ 249 (US $ 224.10)

Hi David,

Another Aussie here. I already have Distinator 6 and recently downloaded the trial version of CF1.2 from your website. I was able to copy my Australian Maps across to the CF install directory and use them with the trial version.

My question is . . . . do I have to pay the full $275 to buy the XLE version when I already have the Destinator 6 maps. Seems silly to pay for them twice. It would be good if I could just buy the SE version and use my existing maps.

Regards

Paul

There's a thread around here that talks about David's position on this. Basically it boils down to the terms of his contract with Destinator.

By license, David's required to charge for the maps that comes with the big version, and by your license with the version you already have, it is not "legal" to use maps acquired from another version of Destinator with CF.

Past that, if you've found a way to make that happen, it's not really a good idea to talk about that here.
