backups are not the same as a reinstall. he is right. you havn't tried reinstalling xp? yeah, you should do that, i am curious to see what happens...
EDIT: I just read on another thread that you installed 2.0 over 1.2? That's a no-no (I know, website account says different, this is misleading, but, the release notes...). So you've reported numerous system specific "bugs" that no one else is experiencing, flamed our developers multiple times, flamed other fellow users trying to help, and you have not even tried re-installing xp or even bothered to read any important notes and recommendations in the release notes?
Let's reinstall xp and start fresh, we're not guaranteeing that this fixes all, but often times it does. Gotta try it...

Please show me where I flamed any CF developer, or other users!! My only angry response was to 2k1Toaster who told me to "stop complaining", even though I was not complaining in the first place. It is not right for you to accuse me of things that are not true.
And my current CF 2.0 RC5 is NOT installed over CF 1.2. I had done that at one point, but not with my current setup, on which CF 1.2 was never installed.
AND I have fully read the release notes for each version I have installed. Why are you accusing me of things that are not true?!

EDITED: I am a CF developer, and I haven't accused you of anything. I know what I read, and can point you to multiple spots where your posts could have been reported, but I'm not going to go there yet... Right now, it doesn't matter, this is moot, and like I said, let's start fresh, and reinstall xp...

Okay, I spent 4 hours tonight reinstalling XP and setting up the many G4 drivers, and it is worse than before. Now the G4 just hangs forever before getting into Windows when resuming from Standby, but ONLY if it was put in Standby while CF was running.
But I think the old performance problems will happen anyway, because CF gets noticeably slower as soon as the phone is connected (even while not on a call).

i'm just wondering about this several times today. Bran new install of Windows and it still is running slow. There's some kind of bottleneck in your hardware, there just has to be. We have distributors load up G4's with fresh copies of Windows and CF and things run fine. Post up a log if you can, I am really sorry about that not working for you...

Are you also testing with an external USB sound card?

i use onboard and a usb soundcard, and i actually just bought 2 new usb cards, on the way right now. i doubt it would be that though, what i meant was, you may have just gotten that system that just has internal issues, sometimes that happens. Used to work IT back in the day, and that was the case. Every 100 pc's I'd put out to my users, I'd have 1 bad apple that just needed to be replaced, there was nothing I could do to help it. How did SD ever work on this thing? Was it ok? Or was it unusually slow and you couldn't understand why?

Log attached from CF 2.0 RC6 (this is from after the resume from standby failed; then I manually rebooted, launched CF, and created the report).

resume from standby failed because cf never got the resume event from windows. It gets the standbyt event, uninitializes, then the next thing in the log I see is you starting CF again. The next thing I should see is the Resume event, but I don't. Something is wrong with your os install, system or your hardware, there is no doubt in my mind.
EDIT: Have you tried installing CF on another machine ever? We provide 2 licenses with your purchase....

You don't see the Resume event in the log, because as I mentioned, Windows itself never resumes if the PC is put in standby while the phone is enabled in CF. The PC just hangs with the "system on" logo that the G4 uses during bootup.
I did a completely clean XP install.
I don't understand the point about trying CF on a different PC. I'm sure it will work on some PCs, but the only one I need it to work on is the one in my car.

Was lookin' at one of your logs over on the flux forums, it seems standby/resume is working for you now? Looks like the re-install of WIndows worked after all? I see resume event only taking about 10 seconds to complete, and then navigating around in cf with no delays. And, phone is enabled. So this is all good now?

I recently used the Restore DVD that came with my G4. Since then, the CF problem with resuming from standby with the phone active has been much better.
It does still seem a bit slower overall with phone enabled, and a few times I've had freezes, but it's not like before where it would always take a very long time for every input to be processed.
I just have the phone disabled now anyway though, due to the audio quality being too poor to be useful.
(And there is still a problem with the radio keeping jumping back to -29:59, but it is not related to the phone being enabled. I'll post a bug for that in the Flux forums once I know more, but I think if you guys use the radio for a couple of hours you'll run into it also. Yesterday on an hour drive it would just keep jumping back to -29:59 every minute or two - even after I changed to another station and back. I finally had to restart CF completely to clear out the buffer.)
