Why we need PSD files from CF std skins

David,

If you expect Plugins for CF to proliferate, I assume you also expect them to 'look right', and blend seamlessly with CF standard interface (I know I do, or else what's the point?!)

I know you've been reluctant to releasing the base CF skins PSD files, but I think here is a legitimate reason why you might want to reconsider. Folks creating new CF plug-ins will want to imitate the standard buttons, dialogs, coloring etc so it all blends in nicely. Without the PSD files, the amount of work to create a skin from scratch for these plugins is overwhelming.

I'm not asking fgor the original, full, skin files. Just asking for a few basic elements in PSD format, such as the buttons, dialogs, etc (with all the layers, paths, effects...)

What are your thoughts?

See this thread of upcoming plugin... creating skins from scratch? No way, what a PITA.

I agree i was just working on a skin for a plugin this morning and was spending considerable time croping buttons ect.

A catolgue of these components for the blue ice skin would save alot of time. Maybe its something that you could put on FDN where it has less visibility.

not a bad idea... I will look into adding something to the FDN once the new interface is complete... we are in the middle of redoing the interface/skin...

Thank you David.

So, should we halt all Plugin SKIN development, and wait for the new skin? Assuming the base skin design is locked down by now, can you share the basic components BEFORE the actual skin is released? Along with a sample of a typical screen and dialog.

we are not changing too much of the interface, just the skin... making it more nuetral to match more car interiors, more suddle colors, less sharp edges, etc...

you can still work on plugins and get them working from a functional coding standpoint....
