Day/Night Skin plugin

Would someone be interested in developing a plugin that would check what time it is and if needed, switch between a day and a night skin? It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to write, and the interface would be limited to choosing which skins and maybe how often to check the time. I took a look at the sdk, but it is beyond my currently meager programming skills, plus I've never written anything in vb before. So, is anyone up to it?

hmmm, like the idea, could be skin control panel

took a quick look and i think that it is possible.

I will give it a shot later in the week.

I think I would like to have it change with the sunset /sunrise time like ig does. Might be able to accomplish somthing using part of the weather plugin. (i have to read up more on communication between plugins) Anyone have any other ideas how to make that work?

Well that's because I don't know how to swithc skins in CF. If someone gives me the code on how to switch it then I'd be glad to implement it. Its not that hard to add code to a well organized app

Alti, did you get a chance to look at this yet?

I'd love to test it out on my Thanksgiving trip on Wednsday, as I'm sure others would, so I was just checking. Thanks

the development for this plugin is on temporary hold, while I was able to write a quick app that will offer the select skin CF Dialog and save the result to the CF config file there is no way at present to refresh the skins without closing and reopening CF. David is adding it to the SDK, when he does I will continue working on it.

AhI finally found a thread on this; maybe you can help me 0l33l as you've always done. I've been trying to get this to work in RR but doesn't seem to work or at least not for me. Now it might be because I don't understand this.

I've set GammaControl to "auto" based on time of the day. I have both a night and day skin specified in RR but I haven't noticed it work. If I start the skin at night will it load the day skin or the night skin? Or does it do it after it loads or is there a button I need to push but then again the auto function doesn't really work.

Thanks

I think CF misses the "refresh skin" function right now.. 1.6 should include it? by the way a plugin which manages day/night skins (with preview window maybe) and dimming options like "disable autodim while playing videos" or GPS, or any program embedded.. options to set dimming fadein and fadeout delays... I think it's a must do plugin

Yes, 1.6 should have the refresh included. I was going to try to make a nice preview window for skin selection as well. When you are talking about 'auto-dimming' are you refering to gamma control?
