APOI Plugin: Netstumbler container + POI generator

Hello,

So here's my second plugin (i really enjoy creating them).
The initial idea was to create a non-gui plugin that runs NetStumbler in the background and generate POI's for TomTom i use with my other plugin (PPCEmulator). So practicly it will search for AP's (Access Points) and generate POI's based on the location of the AP for TomTom, so i can easely navigate to a AP i've passed.

Now as i was coding i thought it maybe would be nice to see a list of the AP's found (generally the information NetStumbler shows). To that's when i decided to make a GUI and dump the netstumbler window in it.

Features:
- Search WiFi Access Points and save there location using GPS data (uses netstumbler)
- View and control NetStumbler within CF.
- Convert the netstumbler data to 75 different filetypes every 10 minutes (uses gpsbabel).

Bugs:
There's 1 bug that i'm aware of. Thats the Run On Startup option. For some reason NetStumbler shuts down when u try to launch it when CF is starting.
For now i don't know how to fix it, but i do know it has something to do with the SetParent function and the fact that de new parent is not visible. Netstumbler somehow dousn't accept that.

So don't use the Run On Startup option for now.

Requirements:
- NetStumbler 0.4.0

Tips:
If you want to generate poi's it's best you create an empty textfile with the correct name and extention and then browse to it in the plugin setup page.

UPDATE:
- Run On Startup option fixed , its a bit of a workaround. It just sets the plugin visible before calling the SetParent and then make it invisible again. Only thing is you get a short flicker when CF loads.
- Added Update Interval option allowing users to set there own update interval.

btw, 15 views and no commets?
If you think it sux-*** feel free to tell so

Perhaps I missed something...69 different filetypes..What about Destinator version in CF???

Does this software could be used to feed POI in CF GPS plugin?

What is the name and the extension?

The software can't select an output file.

My main goal was to make it work with TomTom, didn't look into using it with Destinator. I'll see what data format destinator uses.

Yes, but some programs need to restart before they reload the POI data.

In most cases the name of the file would be the category name of your poi. The extension you should find yourself, also in most cases you can see it by looking to other POI files and use the same extension.

UPDATE:
- Added 6 more conversion formats (newer version of GPSBabel):
* DeLorme XMap/SAHH 2006 Native .TXT
* Franson GPSGate Simulation
* Garmin MapSource - txt (tab delimited)
* Kartex 5 Track File
* Kartex 5 Waypoint File
* Navigon Mobile Navigator .rte files

- changed the formats list in the setup page, added the extension at the end of the description (if the extension is known)

DOWNLOAD:
http://users.pandora.be/_freakz/apoi_plugin/APOI.zip
If your upgrading from a previous version just overwrite the gpsbabel directory and the APOI.dll.

This is great - THANK YOU! NS has been a bit "interesting" to control as an external app in CF.

I've kinda' shifted over to WiFiHopper as my main sniffing app, but I like running NS to get the file exports.

Will this program export files in a format that iGuidance 2.1.3 can understand? I don't know much about netstumbler but I did not see iNav or iGuidance on the 'formats' list. This would be a great program otherwise!

IIRC David was going to make 1.7 be able to use TomTom POI's

Don't know if he did though...

I cant get it to embed properly. Net stumbler opens in its own window. And not in CF.
Whats wrong?

Is it possible to generate POI's for the internal Navigation in CF (Destinator)?

i use: CF 1.7RC1 @ 800x600
