Drop down menu slide in from left?

I'm no XML coder, but I'd like to figure out how to make the drop down menu (menu_down.png and menu_off.png) slide in from the left once you press the button that is linked to it. I'm going to move that button so I just need the XML code to get it to work (slide from left instead of from the top). I have the skin about 25% done (roughed out) and when it's closer I'll post some pictures. This is one of current hang-ups at the moment.

I'm running in to the same problem with my skin editor to code it so that you can do horizontal side bar.

here's what I know:

The XML code is easy enough to modify outside of any editor (notepad, xml spy etc)

You can use one of the skin editors out there to "help you out" as no editor is yet feature rich and encompases all aspects of centrafuse take your pick.

I'll promote my own skin editor and I'm trying to build it up to be "feature rich" but I've got a long road to travel on that.

With my skin editor you can visually get the initial menu button positioning with it and edit the menu bar in photoshop. Then you all that is left is to manually edit this XML area:

Skin\Screens\Main\Menu\ <- Edit Width and Height to match your photoshop graphic and your good.

Here's a mock up of my skin using a horizontal menu bar...it's crappy but I did it in about 5 mins. *NOTE* buttons are only able to show text left to right so your buttons can't be tall and have the text align top to bottom.

Check out the Skins forum and search for my skin editor links V.20 is the latest.

P.S. the menu bar really doesn't slide it just displays really quickly, your eye tracking provides the slide effect

Any more questions let me know, I'll try and help you out.

I am using your skin editor and it's awesome. It saves a guy like me (not a programmer) a whole lot of time. Right now I'm working on a skin that's coming along pretty nicely. So far I have the main screen set but testing is a little tedious because I only have CF in the car and I run Suse 10.2 on my desktop. So, I have to do all of the editing and hope it's right and then take the usb stick and plug it into the car (no wifi yet).

cool! Thanks for the feedback.

Have you looked in to running a VMware session (free virtualization software) on your Suse? You could run VMWare server V1.03 and have a windows xp session in there running my editor and centrafuse. It's better than going back and forth from your car. I use it extensively for my work and Developement environment.

I do use VMWare but the testing machine doesn't have CF installed. I guess I could install the demo and bust my butt to get the skin done in 30 days

VMware server is free! No time limit, but you do have to register it to get a serial number. Workstation has a 30 day trial.

Thumbs up

I was talking about installing the CF demo on the virtual machine so I could test the skin, I already registered for VMWare. I posted a pic of the skin I'm working on in the other thread asking about new skins.
