CF 1.4 skin for CF 1.2
Hi,
maybe it sounds weird, but i try to make a skin for CF 1.2 , which looks like CF 1.4.
I really love CF 1.2 and the new skin design, but for me CF 1.4 is not so good, so iīd like to stay with CF 1.2. Reasons for this are the integration of Destinator in 1.2, the way the media files are organized and serveral other reasons.
As David wrote, Destinator (or Teletype) are implemented in later versions, and ... i want it now and an embedded MapMonkey is not an option for me.
So, here is my first attempt of the main screen ... what do you think - and ... anyone planning to covert the skins, too ?

Sure ... 1.4 is much faster. But the "killer feature" is a 100% working navigation. With Destinator.
And ... i want a music manager which i can operate while i am driving my car.
So .. i use 1.2 and wait for future releases with built-in navigation - but in the meantime i want a cool skin.
Sure ... centrafuse is still the best front end ... but for me 1.2 is fast enough.

Add-on:
The look of the integrated GPS in CF 1.2 was highly professional and it really looked factory.
But an embedded MapMonkey ... is far away from looking "factory". It just looks like a rough, hand-made solution.
Thats why i keep 1.2.

I agree with the whole GPS situation. Hopefully things will change for the better with integrated GPS support in 2.0

??? Really. Someone made a CF2 "skin" for mapmonkey. Did you see that? Why is that not as good? (I'm just curious, I switched to iG a long time ago and with the help of SKINbedder, it can look "factory" when embedded too. In fact, any app can.)

Maybe i havenīt found it yet ... but (as an example) is there a way to
disable Mapmonkeyīs splashscreen when it starts ?
Or ... not talking about Mapmonkey, i donīt want any splashscreen to appear
when starting GPS. I just want GPS to start - like in 1.2.

yes... 1.5 will include the usual enhancements and bug fixes, but also the SDK with some plugins... It will be out soon... most likely a couple of weeks, but a few weeks at the most...
then 1.6 will follow with integrated GPS after that...

Hi,
itīs done. I finished all the screens i need and i edited skin.xml to fit the new buttons.
In the moment, i donīt have space to host this file for download, but it is only 4.2 mb as zip-file, so i think i can send it as mail-attachement.
BUT:
I only skinned the parts and screens i use / or which will appear on my screen. I have NOT skinned the following parts:
- phone
- weather
- web
- dialogs
Of course, i skinned music-manager ;-)
If you are still interested, iīll send you a copy, no problem.
