thanks brian, I just signed up an ftp account with 75gb transfer a month & 2gb storage.... I've wanted to do this for a while now for my website anyway, just waiting for the confirmation email with access data, don't know how long that will be... I woulda thought it would be auto generated right away... but I guess not... should be up soon
rpm, I'll look at the xml's & see if I can figure out which one is the highlight bar color, but personally I like the teal for my car, it's complimentary to the scheme & it would look too "flat" to me if it was the darker blue...., not to mention that I matched this skin to one of my alpine head unit display schemes & it happens to have a teal band in it that picks up on this highlight perfectly, but I'll play with it anyway...
I really don't like the neon green text on the buttons when down, I want to change that to the teal, that & I don't like the volume being that dark green, I had to highlight that area for it to be more viewable
what you said about the modifiying & adding to the list is exactly what I had in mind too, because my screen is long & narrow, don't know if I can figure that out though, I'll poke around in the xml's & see what I can make of it, but I'm really a n00b there

I'm waiting for my access e-mail from tulip... I just signed up for an account last night..... once I get this I will host a bunch of skins.... I'll fix the green one & do other colors & such... I have the brushed metal done & I played with the xml's last night for the first time too.... I think I can do some real skin mods given enough time for the learning curve... did I mention skinning was FUN
looks good rpm, any feedback or things that you see should be fixed?
I am annoyed by the anomolies that surround a button when down on some screens,I see this on other skins too sometimes...I fixed them for the main screen buttons & I don't see any others that are really bad, but I would like to eventually tweek it for no anomolies anywhere.... this happens because although the graphics are not square slices the actual xml'd screen areas are perfect squares & rectangles...., the trick is to build the down graphics with the changes only being in the button areas alone rather than the whole graphic...
have to take this into account when building the _down graphics.... I'll get better at this with a little time.... I'm only at this for 6 days right now, but I think I found a new hobby without spending a fourtune a hosting server is the only expense besides time, & at the $9.99 mo. it's not so bad..... I expect to set up a whole suite of skins eventually.... I really am having fun with this

looks like I'm not going to get this server set up till monday, I tried calling & there m-f 9-4:30 only..... don't know why it wasn't automatic, I'm guessing it's due to paypal payment instead of direct creditcard transaction... if anyone really wants this before then let me know & I'll e-mail it to you...

You rock turbocad!
Comments:
1) Like you said, the button down images need work
2) The "button-highlight" looks great when you select HOME like in my screen-shot, but it doesn't look so good when one of the other left buttons is "silver".
3) There are some remote screens in the setup area that don't look like they are really skinned (looks like default skin). I will start writing those down when I see them so I can give you better feedback.
All-in-all, it works and looks great. You should just work on the square-down-button thing this weekend and then release it with that fix on Monday. I will give you more comments then. Keep up the good work.

one of the problems is bugs in cf, the buttons sometimes staying down is one of them, & accents the down image discrepancies so much more.... I'll fix them this weekend I think.... it bugs me too... a lot of the deeper menu screens I didn't skin as much as I just turned the brightness down & turned the contrast down so there not a bright screen poping up, they should all be smoked I think, let me know what you find.....
I didn't do anything with the internet skin or nav yet.... that can be done seperately but when there on the screen you can't help having bright white anyway, so not as big a deal, I'll eventually do them too
thanks for the feedback so far...

After Blue-Night (which is totally awesome), I'd like to see a new brushed-aluminum skin kinda like the mock-up to did of brushed-gun-metal earlier in this thread (since others have already made Green/Orange/Red).

that brushed metal isn't a mockup, it's done... I've been doing some more playing, & I decided to change my deeper screens to brushed metal for now too, there not a bad match for the skin & I may go back & alter them later, they do good for now.....
this is something I've been playing with, what do you think?

Great work!
My one comment is that the "silver" shade of the home button remain silver always and the rest of the buttons always stay blue (the silver being the currently selected button just doesn't look right). Maybe make a less dramatic selection indicator like glowing bubble behind text.
The picture as a background's look awesome. Being in L.A., I would like to see one with a picture of stopped cars on a freeway
Edit: http://www.ocregister.com/newsimages.../21freeway.jpg
...or one of those time-lapsed night-time freeway shots?
