Hi,
It looks like I`ll be selling my car soon and will be taking the CarPC out beforehand . Pictures can be found at
www.ripley.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk . Also a 5mb video at
http://www.ripley.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/carmp3.avi [use save as ...] . This includes a cupid mini-itx case ,20 gig laptop drive ,128 mb memory etc and the irman remote control and all driver disks etc . The screen is not cased i.e. bare electronics on the back and has a small daughter board connected by 2 wires that controls brightness. The display was designed for cars and runs on 8V-16V dc and automatically switches off if there is no video signal . This was a proof of concept and once I had the proof I never built a cleaner looking case
The Via epia 800 mobo can boot from usb pendrive usb hard drive etc with the current bios although if the bios is upgraded to a newer version some of these options are lost . The mobo could also fit under a seat or in the dash glove compartment etc . It WILL reboot if engine is cranked over as I haven`t got any special power supply ....it runs of the cupid 12V dc power supply board with NO problems .
If anyone is intereted they would need to be happy editing registries setting up PC`s etc and also be competent at fitting a car stereo .
In all honesty it would be best for a buyer to be local so I could show all the setup , install etc as i have used some non standard connectors and there is a maze of wires under the carpets in the car . The sound from PC goes straight to an amp which is NOT for sale although you could connect one of those tape converter things easily enough or use an fm transmitter module to send sound to a tape/radio deck .
I`m in Wolverhampton,England and looking for £250 for the complete system. This includes majority of wires which soon add to the cost Oh yes ,it can also be controlled using a keypad also included in sale .
