Group Buy : Smallest GPS receiver avalible

It is a GPS receiver module with an attached patch antenna. It can be powered via USB 5v and sends the standard NMEA protocol.

Size :
Small PCB form factor – 45 mm x 45 mm x 9.7 mm

Weight:
18 Grams

Operating Tempeture:
-40c..+85c

Built in Antenna:
25mm patch antenna element
Center frequency 1578

Protocol:
Propriety Italk binary protocol
NMEA-0183 V3.0

Power Supply (can be supplied via USB):
+2.7V..+7V (Recomended +3V)

Current Drain:
50 Ma typical

These units are not available through retail but I have a chance to order extras through the company I work at for my own uses. The units I receive will not come with any serial connection so I will need to attach a USB connection to make them PC compatible. They will be compatible with any software using the NMEA protocol. The assembled unit will be the GPS module with an attached USB dongle but no protective case.

The price should be $140.00 USD or under. I don't know how much interest this will generate. I would like to find a minimum of 10 people willing to put down a deposit of $25 USD before I put in another order. I will try to answer any questions you have. I will be checking for replies and can be reached at my email: Minus@shaw.ca (I am located on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada)

How is this one different from the Deluo ($99 with software) or the GPSmouse on ebay (~$50)

Attaching a USB dongle isn't constructing it. It is still smaller then those two units listed but they are both seem to be quite capable also. If the specifications of the other units are adequate for your uses then you should get them. The technology was designed to minimize size. With out the patch antenna included the size of the receiver would be cut down to 26 mm x 26 mm x 4.7 mm which I could also order without the antenna the price would also drop to $105. I made this post before ordering a few was to determine if anyone was interested, if their are better alternatives then there isn't a reason to order it.
