Probably the easiest way to hack the power, would be to snip the cig lighter end of the car adaptor and run the wire into your 12 volt power. Seems easy enough..
This carpc has the USB 1.1 as far as I know. I used this with a Delorme USB GPS receiver and never had any problems acquiring satellites, tracking, etc...
I've also used the machine with a USB 4 port hub with a mouse, the delorme, keyboard, and USB hard drive key and didn't notice any issues with speed, problems with the GPS, etc.
Any other questions just ask/post
~Bob

I don't know all that much about power, but here's the facts:
The computer needs ~18 volts DC. That's what the car adaptor does, turns ur car's 12 volts into the 18 volts needed. So, you could use the car adaptor, snip the cig lighter side, and run that directly to your car's 12 V (ignition, const, whatever you want).

This could be powered by the Carnetix P 1900 guys. You'd probably have to solder some leads from the power switch of the pc.

- All thats required for this to run is a PSU and monitor correct?
- How did WinXp run on this PC with 128MB RAM? Was there any issues?
Thanks

All that you would need to run this machien in your car is a monitor. The car adaptor allows you to plug it directly into your cig lighter for power. I used an older Xenarc with serial touchscreen. VGA with serial both worked great. I even used a Delorme USB GPS receiver with this machine and there were no conflict issues with the serial TS and GPS.
This machine runs great with WinXP. I was running Frodo with iGuidance 2.1.1 NA and didn't have any problems. If you wanted to upgrade the memory in the future, or have some laying around - that's possible.
