FS: 20 x 4 Line Serial VFD Displays. (Like LCD but better)

I have three 20 character x 4 line VFD displays. These are serial port capable just add a resister and a serial connector. These displays are way better than LCD because they are daylight readable and very bright. They require about 400 ma at 5v.

This is one in action:

I also have CP2103 USB to Serial boards. I've added one to one of the displays and it works great. the display uses the USB power so all you need is a USB cable, no power cable required.

Price $40 for the display alone. $60 for a display with a USB board. I have three avaialbe. Paypal only. 1st class mail shipping included. Add $4 for priority Mail.

I also have a 40 character x 4 Line LED Backlite LED with a RS232 serial port controller on it. Works great - does not work with USB to Serial converters, it must be used with a Serial cable. $50 shipped if interested. I can add a serial cable and 5v power supply for $10 extra.

It's an LCD screen with an LED Backlight.

Not sure, I always planned on driving them with my own software.

I'm sure can find something that will drive them, there is also a serial plug in for girder that you could probably use.

I see...I was just wondering. I've got a 24x8 display in my personal (non-car) computer...and I've been working on my own software since I can't find anything for a display that big.

Ugh! I know the LCD you are speaking off, it's the one used by PJRC.com on their MP3 project. No backlighting, ugh!

Yeah...I bought it a long time ago...back when you had to build your own interface circuit...broke it...bought a new one. I've been working on a program that shows system stats and Half-Life Multi-Player stats. Probably about 65% done, but it's on the back burner now....WAY back!
