So what lens are u guys using? I have been trying to decide what ls to use for the front side of the car but I still don't know... I got a bunch of them for cheep to test them but did not pay any attention that they all were F2.0 . When I decide on the lens I'll get a better one.
I am leaning toward a 6 or 8mm lens. Less than that and I can't see far enough (killing the point of night vision camera). More than that and looking through it feels very weird since everything is zoomed and u miss all nearby details and looking through the camera wile turning is VERY uncomfortable.

Yes, that's what I did. The lens bottoms out - I'll try your other suggestions when I can get a chance to crack it open. Thanks for all your help!

I'm sorry, I can't remember right now. I'll look at it tonight when I'm home.

I'm in for lenses.
I'll take the battery pack if it's the real one not the car adapter pack.

I started my nightvision project in my car here
Mark, I would like to get one of the nitemax ultras (the ones with out the power board, but the screen controller and color CCD) that you have, I also would like to get 6 of the IR LEDs that you have.

while modifying the lcd, I removed all the wires but pin 5,9,11 from jp1.
now my picture is upside down and not clear.
Can someone post a picture of jp1 with all the wires attached as it comes from Mark so that I can put back the necessary wires back ?
thx

The original NiteMax configuration had 12, 14 and 15 tied together which would pull these pins LOW for normal operation. It looks like these pins have a pull-up resistor that makes them go high when no wire is attached.
The documentation shows the GND and GNDS names. I believe these are the same but I can't see the traces on the PCB well enough to say for sure. I think it's a safe bet to assume that these are all ground.

How about the list... anyone else ? I think we may have enough for a bulk buy for the lenses right? (greater than 5..)

I ended up having 1 dead beat bidder on my NiteMax auction. So, if anybody wants it, 28.00 to your door. (Insurance optional, @ 1.50)
SOLD. Thank you.

Just got my color CCDs (thanks Mark!)
It is quite a bit bigger than the b&w ccds.
So I start looking at my pile of project boxes and found a radioshack one that fits almost perfect

I say almost as the standoffs for holding the pcb just miss and one of them is in the way of the can labeled NTSC. Though you could just mount it reversed. The board to the cover. I think with the right standoffs and a template, you could actually mount the CCD board to the cover of the project and the lens to the box itself, thereby solving the lens mounting issue. And if you were careful, could even fit a TO-2 voltage regulator in there.

awesome, if you create a pdf template, that'd be sweet
.... sucks the color CCD is so large. Thats project enclosure is slightly smaller then my camera http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonsd450/page2.asp
no wonder that one guy was able to fit his in a paper clip holder. I was thinking "no way would this fit"
