My "toys" came yesterday.
I spent quite a bit of this morning on figuring out how to reconfiguring the battery chargers to work on 220V in stead of 110V.

Simply hooking them up to 220V seemed to do the trick.

Now I'm waiting for a battery to discharge to test the loading current, as Mark was so kind to ship me charged one's.

A nice feature of the charger seems to be that the LED is only lit when it's actually charging, so the LED dims when the battery is fully charged.

I'm still waiting. A 1650 mAh battery on a Nitemax Ultra with IR's on 'full blast' mode easily lasts 90'.

The NiteMax is getting lukewarm at the moment, so I'll give it another 30' and then start recharging the battery.

Status Report: A 1650 mAH battery lasts between 90' and 105'.

As far as using the charger designed for 120V on 240V : 4'

As I figured out the charging electronics would stand the increased voltage of 30V AC instead of 15V AC easily, but the primary of the transformer can't cope. It blew it's thermal fuse.

I replaced the transformer by a 15V 2VA type and the battery is charging fine.

No Mark but it's because all packages were delayed because of the holiday period. The post office staff told me that no package after 21 Dec was delivered. I will have it monday or tuesday

hmmm I got mine back out to play with. I know it used to work fine. Powered it on 12v battery replacement thing and it didn't come upright the screen just flashed. plugged in 9V to the power jack only and nothing. Then both and had the same results at before, flashing screen. Raised voltage to 12V and used it only nothing. Plugged in both have just a flashing screen again. I think I screwed it up.

Check to see if the IR works. This will tell you a little bit about what's happening to the internal power.

If the IR works, you should see if any video comes out of the RCA jack by hooking it to a TV or VCR or something.

If the screen keeps flashing as you watch, it could be a sign of trouble with your power supply. With a weak power supply I've seen it do this.

It is also possible for the LCD to be adjusted completely black. See if you can change the LCD contrast.

Mark good to see you are still around here

I should have mentioned about the IR part. It does turn on and off but it seems dimmer then usual. I wonder if there is something wrong with this variable brick as I haven't used this one before.

EDIT good its working again. Though this screen keeps flashing on occassion, must be a crappy brick

Hooked it up to an LCD and even when the LCD on the camera flakes out the regular video to the TV/LCD is just fine. I am still hunting down the original brick i used on this when it used to work fine.

Using a 9v supply, you better have one that can provide at least 700 or 800mA because the NiteMax is thirsty. If you use a 12v supply, you can get away with less but it still needs to be strong. The original 9v NiteMax supply was rated at 9v @ 1000mA.
