This is the shot i got with my camera after i have placed a plastic difuser on the front of the IR LED's to get rid of the super whitespot in the center of the image. Sorry for the bathroom but it's the only place where i have 100% darkness... The image was taken by a Canon EOS 350D holding the Nitemax with my left hand and shooting with the EOS kept on the other hand, not so nice, but i think you will get the picture.

My personal opinia: perfect. The light is spread allover the place now and a super light is filling the whole place. Even better, i can take off the difuser anytime i want, it is like a "cap"... On my setup, a miniature servo will place the difuser or not depending on what i choose.

Sorry if i posted on wrong thread...

For anyone that has a NiteMax LCD and doesn't need the backlight -- there's a fresnel lens and a diffuser the size of the LCD built right in to the backlight.

The LEDs in the NiteMax are matched pretty well with the viewing angle of the standard lens. For everyone here that wants to use a wider angle lens, there's better LEDs. I know how the specify different LEDs but I'm not so sure I can find a common source for them outside of normal manufacturing channels.

You can also grind the round dome top off the LED with a file or a belt sander and it will have the same effect as a diffuser.

Mark is right again, Genesis. The problem (read my problem) was the fact that i did'nt wanted other LED's. Sometime i will need the light to be spoted. I just wanted to have a spreaded light ONLY when i am in small places. The difuser (you will laugh) it's a CD envelope. A stupit matte plastic... Any acrilyc plastic (CD rom case) sanded with a fine granulation sand paper will do the job... On the other part, i have a very small motorised optical lens system from an Olympus camera. Tried a draft install (instead of the 4mm/F1.6 lens i have on the camera ) and the result was amazing: a huge optical zoom with a very nice wide angle on the other side. The only problem will be to have a perfect fit install of the lens, and i now for sure what will be my lens for the car install.

LOL, you'll come to find out Mark is almost ALWAYS right. I sit there and just listen and learn, he's a great guy and very patient.

So a CD envelope, huh? I'll have to do that. See, we have this problem with a halo effect form light sources, such as streetlights and stuff, and we've been searching for a good way to get rid of that, before the LCD. Your solution may be the trick to solve that. I'll file some IRs down for other uses . I'll have to wait for my...what is it mark, third shipment?...of nitemaxes in order to play with em (i gave my last battery away ).

I'll start having screen shots to test things out soon.

BTW mugurg, there IS a nitemax discussion thread. thoguth we can move this to there so we dont' take up for sale stuff and have poor mark have to fish through the chatter . Bumps the thread though...

I doubt that will be any halo fixing with this, as it is just the filter in front of LED's... The image is perfect when you use IR on dark environments... My plan is to have full IR light, even more powerfull than now, but also to use a IR filter so i will never see visible light and i hope for halo reduction with this.

My mistake, i applogise. Let's hope someone will move these bad posts...
