Shell32.dll help?

My front-end was finished, but I decided to change it and use .GetDetailsOf from Shell32.dll to display Artist, Album etc, as UltraID3Lib.dll doesn't work on id3v2.2 and 2.4 tags.

Anyway, after re-coding the mp3 reading part of my front-end, it works fine on my desktop computer, but when using it in my van, it crashes when it gets to a part of the program where it uses shell32.dll.

When I checked the version of shell32.dll on my desktop compared to the computer in the van, they are slightly different. My desktop computer is version 6.0.2900.3241 whereas the version in the van is slightly earlier, something like 6.0.2900.30xx.

Is this the reason for it not working, and if so, how do I update shell32.dll? I tried copying over the version in the van, but XP won't let you as it is being used elsewhere in the system. I also did a Windows update, but this didn't work either.

Any help would be greatefully recieved

I have been tinkering around a bit today with the van computer and found that in Explorer, normally when an mp3 file is in the right hand pane, various info is displayed under the file name; artist, album. In my computer in the van, it just shows the file name.

If I right click and select properties, summary, advanced, there isn't the same information that my desktop computer displays, this is probably what is stopping my new code in my front-end not to work!

How can I sort this out, it seems it is a Windows problem. I did a Windows update today, but it still doesn't display the file info

Any hints?

Thumbs up

All sorted now. Did a complete re-install with Windows XP Pro, as I found out that I had XP corporate installed on the van computer (naughty me)!

Most people say on the internet that there is no difference between XP Pro and XP corrporate, but there are a few small differences. It dosen't come with WMP and maybe the reason why they don't give it the capabilities of viewing mp3 information in windows explorer.

Bloody Windows!
