What are the differences between english and metric settings in dash command. Are metric for European readings and english for American readings?
Etc etc.
Thanks.

Difference is between Miles/Kilometers psi/kgf inch/mm etc.
Correctly speaking it should read Metric (SI - System International which was invented by the French) or Imperial (English) units... Not American or International?!?
Im pretty sure that Ounces, lbs, miles, yards, feet, and inches etc. where all in use in England before America was even discovered!

Can someone explain to me how I would go about determining what the PID values are for my vehicle. I've got a Subaru Legacy Outback (1998) and I'm trying to use asmpbm's gauge pack (the GTR ones) and the only one that seems to work off the bat is the RPM gauge. I don't really understand what I'm supposed to do. All I understand is that I'm supposed to be changing the PID values using the editor to match whatever values my car outputs...?
I'm lost, lol. I'm using DashCommand, which I've managed to embed into Centrafuse.

Stang,
Download the free trial version of PCMScan. Goto the settings tab and select PID config. This will identify the PIDs available, and is the way the the Palmer Performance Engineering team would recommend to you too.
I had to do several printscreen's as there isn't (or wasn't in the 880 build) an export PID list function. Using the list of PIDs available to your vechicle you can use DashCommand editor to substitute PID IDs. Be warned that the Maxda RX8 (aspbpm's vehicle) will probably have many more PIDs and aspbpm use PCMScan, that supports scripts (I think DashCommand doesn't at present).
Let us know how you get on! My 2001 Astra had 52 PIDs available.
Seasons Greetings,
Dave

Well I'm not having much luck. I've done what you said and got my list of supported PIDs but when i edit the DashXL file from, say, SAE.TP_R (which is what it was set to) to SAE.TP (which is what my car supports) I still don't get a reading from it. I know I can read that data because the OBD-II reading software integrated in Centrafuse reads it. I don't know what's wrong...
I've noticed in PCMSCAN that it says "not scanning unlicensed parameter:" and then lists almost everything. I'm assuming that's because it's unregistered software? Will DashCommand not read these values until i register it either? Is that the problem? I was hoping I could see how many gauges I could get working and how well it worked before I paid for it.

I think that DashCommand, and don't quote me on this, only reads five if not registered - ECT, IAT, MAP, RPM and VSS - likewise PCMScan. These five are the only PIDs ticked on my list from the trail PCMScan used to establish a PID config list.
I have a file that works with my car after tweaking with aspbpm's. Just PM me your email addy if you want to try that too.
Also, it may be worth trying the Palmer performance forum for some more detailed help. I'm more than happy to help but I'm no expert I'm afraid .
Cheers,
Dave

Alright, well, I'll purchase the software and try again when I have time and see how far I get. If that doesn't get me anywhere, maybe yours will work better than his. Let's see what happens first. Doing the normal PID scan popped up 50-something PIDs available so I think I should be able to get quite a few of them working EVENTUALLY.
Thanks for all the help!

Plan to integrate DashCommand to RoadRunner. so design the 1-4,A-G as the buttons. Does DashCommand have the commands(button codes) to change it's skin?

If you just want it so you can just display the gauges, then all you need is DashCommand. However, from what I understand (this is where I'm at now) you need to download the demo of PCMSCAN as well so you can identify the PIDs for your particular car, which you will need to tweak the gauges to work for your car.

Yea for the moment I only need to display guage, till my insurance comes down I wont be doing any serious modding, (a few filters and pipes here and there for the moment) so displaying them is more for personal interest. Are there any obd2 kits reckomended orwill any old chinese kit do?

I'm using that cheap-o ELM327 unit off ebay for like $35. Works great! Dunno if something else would work any better but I've got no issues so far...
