If you install it and look at the script that runs, it pulls from the weather channel. The cool thing is that you can take this example and apply it to other XML projects pretty easily...which is great! I'm not a programmer but if I'm pointed in the right direction I can usually get things working.

Yes, it's pulled through a 'net connection.
No, it doesn't cache. The weather forecast changes from hour-to-hour, so a cached weather forecast is essentially useless. It has to be current to be even remotely accurate.

No it doesn't do this, but all the DigitalMods are open source so you could change it to do whatever you want. It should be pretty easy to just bypass the downloading code and have it go directly to reading the XML file. You still have the problem of how you get that XML file on there and keeping it up to date though.

I'm pretty certain that it chooses your location based on GPS coordinates.

Has anyone played around with this mod to get it to cashe to your local PC?
It would be awesome to have this download the latest weather updates and cashe them everytime you have a connection.
I am trying to get a buddy to help me with this.... Just curious if anyone else is trying it?

It doesn't cache, period.
Caching of weather information is pointless because it changes so frequently, sometimes minute-to-minute.
So you could cache weather info at a hotspot and by the time you leave, the information is invalid.
The same goes for traffic information.
