Time and Time-Zone auto adjust...

Good evening all..

Does anyone see any value in using the GPS Sat Time Sync data to sync the PC's clock every hour or so? Also, using zip code data from the Nav maps to set time zone as well?

Could someone with Digital Mod coding skills make such a thing? Do you see value in it?

Kris...

Considering Windows has this functionality already, I don't really see the point.

Well, unfortunately, Windows has no way to sync w/o an internet connection, which a car may intermittently have, but Satellite it always has. Oh, and since when does Windows know where you take your PC? I believe, once again, thats where the integration with the Satellite Receiver may be important.

Good point.
But, wven if I traverse time zones, I don't try to acclimate myself to the new time zone, at least not in my truck. If I need to know what local time, I reset my watch.

And I can have internet access in my truck whenever I choose, so if I want my PC to do a time sync, it will do just that.

I admit.. Your idea and logic is sound. It's simply not a function that I would use.

Not just for the occasional trip...

My thought was, not necessarially for the "oh I'm in this timezone for a day" situation. But, good point as I hadn't thought about the issues with that. I was thinking more for when I make a road trip to another timezone for a week or so. Perhaps there'd be a way for it to see you're in that time zone for more than 24-hours, then make the change (and notify you, of course).
