KWP2000 - and serial communication

Hi,

I have bought the KWP2000 plus (one of those from ebay),
but I've got some issues...

it is a USB version,
and when I connect it to my computer, and I install the normal KWP2000 drivers,
then it doesn't show as an Com port,
I can just find it as a serial to Kline protocol.

I have DL the obd-Diag, and I believe that I have read somewhere that it supports the KWP2000,
but in that prorgram, along with ALL others,
then I need to set a Com Port, but the device isn't functioning as a serial communication device, soo can't really use that program.

do anyone know if there is ANY program, or drivers for the KWP2000, so that it is recognized as an Com port, so that I can use it in the bunch of free programs that are out there...?

or is the KWP2000 just some Piece of

that doesn't do anything good...?

im having that same problem but the kwp 2000 was givin to me but im trying to use it still

the port is only visible when the diagnostic interface is connected to your laptop as its USB so it installs a serial to USB converter, you can view it in your control panel in device manager

? you need to be in control panel in device manager to see it when you plug your device in it will bleep to tell you then you can set the coms

I know that with my ELM thing, once I installed the drivers it did something very similar. In device manager at first, it comes up as a USB bridge thing and I have to install the drivers for it. After, once it installed, there was another thing hidden away in the device manager called USB to COM whatever, and I had to install the exact same driver files for that one too. Only then does it actually work.

I gave up the ghost and went OEM because Citroen is multiplex and that was a lesson to me because I already have that stuff? what a waste £££££ but im an old tech so granted a few mistakes but you young guys have it all at your fingertips, in my time a multimeter and a break out box ( BOB ) was sophisticated enough but still works in today's tech and in most cases required because your laptops cant cope with it lol

now that's where your problem is ( you installed another usb driver ) and the conflict although not seen will obscure the other drivers ( one tool one driver ) or know how to switch them, many toys come with a driver and the conflict is there and only problem is the pin connection ( 16 to 9 ) and that's where the problem lies so you need to go to 23 pin or more to multiplex ( I use a 32 pin for my xantia ) which is multiplex
